Nenets people who still live their traditional nomadic way use 2 layers of reindeer skin canvas to cover their _chum_ (tent).  

In mid winter daily temperatures reside around minus 40 - 50 Fahrenheit.

It makes me laugh when people in the UK say they have a hard life when they have a job and a house. Existing with a tent like this and living of the land is what I call tough. Not sure I could do it. Were you camping out?
