Platos: Pati vegetariano de Hongo Crimini y Falafel de Brócoli Precio: 3800 colones el patí y 4200 colones el falafel Puntuación: 4 tofus Cada vez hay más lugares donde comer en San José, Costa Rica. 100 metros al sur de la Plaza Francia ahora está el Mercado de Escalante. Un espacio abierto con puesticos de diferentes opciones gastronómicas. Hay mesitas para sentarse y es un plan menos bullicioso que el Jardín de Lolita (que no he ido pero lo he oído). En el Mercado de Escalante uno de los puesticos, el Chinamo Vegetariano, vende comida vegetariana y vegana. El menú tiene siete opciones. Preguntamos que era lo mejor y pedimos el Patí Vegetariano de Hongo Crimini y el Falafel de Brócoli. El Patí trae dos empanadas rellenas de hongo crimini. Estaban un poquito picante pero lo logré. Estaban ricas pero nada del otro mundo. Venían acompañadas con una ensalada y chayote .  El Falafel de Brócoli venía en un plato grande con una ensalada de arúgula, repollo morado a la parrilla, pepino, zanahoria y vinagreta de yogurt con culantro. Traía tres bolitas de falafel hechas de garabanzo y brócoli. Eran lindísimas. Perfectamente hechas. El detalle es que dan cubiertos de plástico, que, además ser pésima decisión para el medio ambiente, no permitían cortar los falafels con facilidad. Una vez que superas esa prueba descubres el sabor increíble del falafel y te contentas de nuevo. La ensalada también estaba muy rica. Lamentablemente no pregunté si los platos eran veganos o veganizable quitando la vinagreta yogurt.. Lo tengo pendiente para actualizar la información. Me gustó mucho el concepto del Mercado Escalante. El ambiente es super chévere, y, claro, venden cerveza y otras bebidas . Además tienen un puestico de venta de café que en la noche estaba cerrado pero quedé con ganas de conocerlo en un brunch. Horario: Miércoles y Jueves de 6pm a 10pm, Viernes, Sábado y Domingo de 9am a 11pm. Lunes y Martes cerrado.
