WHY CAN'T I HAVE AN ABORTION??!!! (2)
![images-8.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWNcuw77ieWo5xLkHAZwD6MLXhkBreUysFihn76Kc8B4p/images-8.jpeg)

Just as I said in the first part of the post which can be accessed here.. https://steemit.com/life/@tolarnee/why-can-t-i-have-an-abortion-1 This second part is my part, the question part and philosophical diggings (lool)

Now at this point, I have questions and standpoints and opinions and I will just be picking my issues randomly.

First, I am of the opinion, strongly that it should not be absolutely prohibited. Really, some people just do not want the children and in my view that's their decision but I can try to understand if the state would not take that as a valid excuse but for heavens sake how about rape victims, persons incapable of taking care of the child or persons who are elderly and might have complications giving birth.

Recently I read of I think a ten or twelve year old girl that was pregnant and was not permitted to abort the pregnancy because of the laws of the state. I mean does that make sense?

Also recently, I read of a beggar, who can hardly sustain herself, she was raped, had HIV and she got pregnant. Would you believe she was equally not permitted to abort the baby? The state cannot be committed in taking care of the child and the woman can barely even take care of herself talk less of a child with HIV.
These in my view are the results of a rigid law on abortion. There should be liberal exceptions, if at all a state is to have laws prohibiting abortion.

Okay, so now let's leave exceptions, let's even delve into why there should or should not be prohibition of abortion. Really, is a foetus a human being? Is it a person with attachments and feelings and responsibilities? Would its death or abortion affect anyone other than the mother?

Should the convenience of the mother not be considered since she is the one that would house the child and eventually birth the child? What if the mother would have no means of raising the child and eventually the child dies of neglect or starvation?

Now, does preventing abortion legally really stop it from occurring? I mean abortion is illegal in many countries and it is still practiced in those countries. Don't we think its the fact that abortion is illegal that makes people result into unsafe medical procedures of removing the pregnancy?

Regretting the aftermath of an abortion, should it or should it not be the personal decision of the mother? Does it mean she would also not regret having the child she did not want?

Let's look at it from the perspective of responsibility, in the situation where a woman has done all her possible best to prevent herself from being pregnant should she still be made to go through with a pregnancy she obviously does not want if she eventually gets pregnant? If such a woman becomes an irresponsible mother won't the same society blame her?

Should we permit women or even girls that are obviously not fit or ready in any form to take up the responsibility of motherhood to be mothers at all?

These are questions we must ask when making arguments or judgments on abortion. I know I have made my stance a bit clear but I deliberately just asked questions so we could try to answer them ourselves and justify our reasoning. I will always stand for choice and rights, we are all humans in a system where one should be permitted to decide on what he or she wants concerning his or her life.

I would definitely appreciate your comments, perspectives and opinions, I am always open to ideas and more knowledge and logical reasoning.

Don't forget to also upvote and resteem!....Much love💜😘😘

beautiful presentation, though I beg to differ. This is not without reason though.
I have actually seen people die in the process of aborting. Talking about circumstances that lead to pregnancies, it is so very unfortunate most especially "rape" which to me is not the making of victim. Other pregnancies are consenting.
nice write up, I give it to you my upvote and will look out for more rich and original content.

it is my honest belief that most of the complications that arise from abortion sometimes happen because of the way it is being done since it is illegal, if it is legalized i know more medically sound procedures would be allowed

I dont really know what to say. I got questions too.
Like what kind of child will a woman who was denied abortion raise? Will she even raise him at all?(some people dont even want to see the baby after delivery especially, rape cases)
Does the atmosphere a child is born into not matter?
How will his emotional and mental well being be?
Last time I checked the same 'society' ridicules the child and calls him bastard.
It's confusing

@smyle ·
I will be addressing these posers you raised here paragraph by paragraph.

Considering labour pain, i think many women would not want to have a baby! Should this then be a matter of choice that they should abort their pregnant on the ground that they do not want the baby?

In the case of rape victim, something is not clear here. This should not be blamed on the fetus if there is any. The lady is raped and the first thing is to get her system cleaned. I believe doctors have ways they flush system immediately after such incidence. Now if the woman decides to keep it to herself until after some months and now decides to abort, don't you think she just wants to 'kill' the child?

The young girl case looks like a misericordiam fallacy (an appeal to pity) to me. A twelve year old girl doesn't become pregnant by will in most cases. She is either raped or engaged in the act. If she is raped and she kept it to herself due to threat, this becomes a question of psychology. What becomes of her after the abortion? Should abortion be the last alternative to rape cases? If she did it willingly, don't you think she should be equally responsible to carry it and see what grown up see by being pregnant?

So you are saying because a fetus is not totally formed, the fetus doesn't qualify to be regarded as human? Fetus react to conditions within the stomach, they feel what the mother feels also (those in medical line can help with this).

Responsibility is a moral attribute required of human beings in the universe already so it cannot be asked of a fetus. And that someone is equally not 'responsible' does not make the person non-human. Those suffering from mental problem are not responsible but does it stop them from being human or make them less human?

On the mother, like i have argued in my post too that the circumstance surrounding the situation ought to be considered. If the mother's life is in danger, they need to weigh the greater good. What would saving the mother give the people or the baby? It is not a matter of the woman is our child! If the mother has mental problem and her life is in danger and there is a better chance of the baby's survival, what would you advise? In this case don't you think the baby should be saved ahead of the mother?

Preventing abortion doesn't necessarily needs to stop it. Law is law! They are there to guide us so that we can be questioned based on them. That is where 'responsibility' in the proper sense of the word comes from. Is stealing not prohibited? Is killing not prohibited? Is robbery not prohibited? But why do people still commit crimes? So this means prohibiting something doesn't stop it from happening, rather it only serves to caution us and it will be referenced when we are caught.

You asked whether we should 'permit' a lady or woman to take a responsibility of motherhood? Well it is first their choice not ours to make and they have to consider their readiness before engaging in acts that could lead to it. Not being ready means not engaging in the act! If a woman voluntarily engage in it and then pretend not to be ready, don't you think this will be a 'passport' to mass killing of innocent kids?

Please consider so many factors before holding a position on abortion.

Should abortion be legalized or rest solely on choice, then many things might go wrong!

Like i concluded in my post, life is sacred and should be held as such.

Thanks.

@tolarnee ·
I must say first that i am greatly impressed, very few people take their time in analysing issues before getting to a conclusion and this was a brilliant analysis but then some things must be borne in mind.
you could imagine that being a student of law and philosophy i must have heard your stance severally and i am sure you must have heard mine so why still will my position not change?
i would not be picking the issues individually like you have done but i will address my perspective and why i still think a liberal view should be held concerning abortion.
foremost, i am not saying that abortion should be like drinking water, that it should be allowed in all and every situation. I am a proponent of freedom and choice on every sphere but i can also understand the need for rules, regulations and restrictions.
my issue with abortion is not in criminalising abortion but in absolutely criminalising it. In my opinion, there are some instances where abortion should be permitted, you are considering the child but as hard as it might be to believe i am equally considering the child. A child that is not wanted either because the mothe lacks the capacity to take care of the child or is not ready for the child might not be well taken care of and the painful thing is that the state would not help in taking care of the child.
a teenage girl that is not ready to be a mother should not be allowed to because forcing that child on her would lead to the eventual punishment and suffering of that child. you have the girl bringing up another nuisance or misfit to the society, when this could have been prevented from the scratch.
i maintain that contrary to your opinion that they should be made to bear responsibility for having sex, most times responsibility would have actually been taken by the use of contraceptives. would you say they should not have sex which their bodies long for because they do not want to have children, you should know that would not stand with persons that want to engage in the act.

I think i can go on and on and we would not arrive at a conclusion but this is essentially why i wrote the post in the first place..Criminalising abortion is doing more harm than good, i know this for sure because of my position with women and as an advocate for rights of women. People would always have sex and there would always be instances where abortion is needed, the fact that it is criminalised would make people look for alternatives. i have heard of abortion by one million and one equipment and substances including hanger and disinfectants which would most obviously cause more complications and in this scenario you might end up losing both child and mother so what exactly is the gain? i believe the law is made for the people and not the other way round so let us consider the effect of any law to our society.

@smyle ·
I fully get your point and i think they are well grounded! However, my fear has always been about the other problems this might ushered in into the system. I also find some problems with your words sister!

This "a teenage girl that is not ready to be a mother should not be allowed" is a pure excuse. The question we should be asking is why did a teenage girl who has no idea about parenting engage in the act?

You also asked: "would you say they should not have sex which their bodies long for because they do not want to have children" and my answer is YES! What stops them from 'holding' body? Not all s*xual acts lead to pregnant but we 'know' that engaging in the act means you could get pregnant. So if they know and still choose to go ahead then they should equally be responsible. This is my point. If a lady is not ready, she should just 'hold' body - perhaps, civilization legalizes this act which ought to be done in marriage.

I agree with you that "the fact that it is criminalised would make people look for alternatives" and this is why their are many complications and death.

Immediately the fetus has 'life' in it, abortion should not be considered because it is killing to me!

So it means we are still having different views on the matter but the essence is to weigh our points and learn from each another (the readers of your blogs too).

I fully get your point sister!
