Practicing Gratitude - The Power of Attraction
I've been practicing gratitude today, and I am happy! I'm living a happier life, and have found myself appreciating every day more. There are so many things in life to appreciate, but there is one thing that seems to bring us together each and every day. Gratitude practice! I'm not sure why it's so important, but I'm grateful every day, and every moment.

Some weeks ago, began a new habit of writing down a gratitude grid on a paper. What's neat, is that this grid diary is actually a sort of visualization journal, as it encourages me to keep my thoughts in a visual way. What we've learned from this is that life is not all that terrible.

So what do you have to be grateful for? Anything worthwhile, as long as you can see the value of what you're grateful for. For example, if you look at your blessings, you can appreciate them more. It may sound silly, but when you think about things you are grateful for, it makes it easier to see how important they are to you. Then you can express more gratitude, as you feel the good that you are doing, and what greater good you have accomplished in your life.

Why would you want to start a gratitude practice? You might think it's silly, or an old-fashioned notion. But as our modern world gets busier, life becomes busier, and we look for ways to cut corners. A gratitude practice can help you to get back on track, and forget about those wasted moments.

So what should you do to start a gratitude practice? The first step is to write out three things you are grateful for each and every day. Think about the good that you have done, even the small ones. Your gratitude journal will be filled with these thoughts, so make them count! If you write down three things every single day, you will find that you are more likely to focus your mind on the good things in your life.

So how do you begin a gratitude practice? The easiest way to express gratitude is to think about something that you are grateful for and tell yourself that you feel good about it. For example, if you're grateful for a job well done, tell yourself that you feel great about it, and how thankful you are for that job. Or if you're grateful for someone else's kindness, tell them that you are grateful for their kindness. You can even write these thoughts down on paper or in a gratitude journal.

The next step of having a daily gratitude practice is to take the notes you keep in your gratitude journal and turn it into a scrapbook. You can start this by writing down everything you are grateful for in your journal. Once you have a bunch of pages, put them in an album and start writing new entries about your daily gratitude practice. You can also choose to record your thoughts and feelings in a prayer journal, journaling, or e-mailing format. This will help you stay motivated and interested in the process.

As you are practicing gratitude, you will gradually notice more good things happening in your life. Start getting more grateful about the little things. For instance, if you are grateful for a compliment, say to yourself, "Thank you very much - I really appreciate that." And then repeat it over in your head as often as you can. As your gratitude practice grows, your outlook on life will improve - and you will be happier.

In order to make gratitude a habit, you need to consistently practice your gratitude techniques every day. At the very least, when you wake up, focus on being grateful for what you are going to get up to that day. Take a minute or two each day and tell yourself you are grateful for what you have right now. If you are in the shower, focus on the pleasure of your shower. If you are cooking, focus on the enjoyment of what you are doing. You will find that focusing on gratitude will bring more of it to you on a daily basis.

In addition to focusing on your daily gratitude practice, you can also take a moment or two to record the good things that happen to you during the course of the day. Use your imagination to create pictures in your mind of all the wonderful things you do. Be as realistic as possible. For example, if you wake up early and are not able to get dressed before the dawn, write down how long you will be late for work. Record the time and then plan your activities around it.

Once you begin regularly practicing gratitude on a daily basis, you will notice a difference in how you feel and in the quality of your life. It will become a habit. When it is habit, the changes that you experience are likely to be lasting. After all, habits are hard to break.
