The Sweet Toxicity
Have you ever met that one person who seemed like an angel on the surface but was always followed by chaos?

This sweet angel was being accused of drama, spreading gossip & being a snake.

Pretty shocking, right?

No way can this person behave like that.

But no... they can.

Don't undermine human nature, my friend...

I remember when I first got into University of Nairobi, one of my friend's from high school was joining me.

Her name was Cindy.

A 4 foot little girl, always wearing a dress & had an innocent laugh.

Cindy really helped me out in high school.

We met in trigonometry class where she struggled. But since I was good in the subject, I helped her out.

But other than being good at trigonometry, I was a straight up loser.

I  would rarely have friends to sit with at lunch.

But Cindy changed that.

She went out of her way to introduce me to her friends.

She was popular as fuck.

Student body president, knew everyone & always threw the most lit parties.

Because of her, high school wasn't that bad.

Entering college with her was awesome.

I introduced my friends to her squad & she introduced her friends to mine.

Soon enough, we ended up having a very similar friend circle.

We all watched movies together, attended school events together & went out together.

It was great forming such a tight knit bond in a new location.

But that all took a turn one day.

One afternoon, one of my good friends Peter, said his girlfriend dumped him.

I asked him why.

He said that Cindy apparently told his girlfriend that he was flirting with other people.

Peter??

Dude was awkward as fuck.

He could barely talk to me without being weird. Doubt he was flirting.

Plus, dude was hella loyal.

Something seemed strange...

But that was just the beginning.

A few weeks later, I heard Cindy's name involved in another piece of drama within our friend group.

Again??

This time, I decided to see if all was good on Cindy's end.

I gave her a call to see whatsup.

Her opener....

'Omg Toni, I HATE drama.'

(Keep this sentence in mind.)

What began off as a close group of friends soon became divided.

Some people were choosing Cindy's side & some people were choosing the accusers side.

Not going to lie, the accusers sure as hell were piling up.

It got to a point where I was being asked to choose sides as well.

How could I possibly do that?

Cindy looked out for me when I was in high school.

She always had my back.

She was a sister to me.

But something was peculiar.

Now that I thought about it.... stuff like this happened in high school as well.

Cindy's was always being put in positions where there was drama involved.

But back then, I thought it was because she was one of the popular kids.

Popular kids are always involved in something, right?

But what was the explanation for college?

Tarnished social bond after tarnished social bond led me to learn a very dark side of social dynamics.

Physical appearance does NOT dictate character.

Cindy was the problem.

She had a sweet looking demeanor of a little princess.

But within?

She was rotten to the core.

She loved drama.

Heck, she thrived off of it.

Seeing social groups being pulled apart, being the center of attention for gossip, and having people choose sides.

People who often say (not always) 'OMG I hate drama' are often the ones starting it.

You will notice something about this group.

Where they go, drama follows.

I doubt it's everyone else who is the issue.

Pretty sure that person is a magnet for drama because they are the root cause.

But they are UNAWARE they are the root cause because they have been doing it for so long that it is now a subconscious act.

Beware.

Sweet toxicity is something many people fall for.

Good looking people are viewed as more trustworthy by your subconscious mind.

Shallow, I know.

But human nature doesn't give a fuck.

Be alert of this.

Don't be the person who is giving their trust away like candy.

But more importantly, don't be trusting someone quicker just because they LOOK trustworthy.

Adopt the mentality where people earn yourtrust.

Trust is one of the primal currencies that is nurtured OVERTIME.

So be patient.

'How does someone earn my trust?'

Thru actions.

The words are empty if the actions aren't congruent.

Observe their actions & give or deduct trust points from there.

That's it.

If you sense something is wrong, then be more curious.

If you see someone is always starting drama with others, then it's just a matter of time till they start drama with you.

Sweet toxicity is in the air.

Stay woke.
