구글 코리아, 페이스북 국내 매출을 사장이 모른다?

오늘 국감장에 나온 구글코리아 존리 대표가 국감장에 출석해서 국내 매출 정보를 알려줄 수 없다고 한다. 현재 구글은 국내에서 법인세를 내지 않고 약 200억원대의 부가가치세만 내는 것으로 알려져 있다. 부가세로 역 추적을 해 보면 2천억대 매출이라는 말인데, 이건 너무 적은 것 같다.

글로벌한 기업이 국내에서 사업을 하면서 법인세를 내지 않아도 되는 것은 국제 조세 협약에 의해서 가능한 일일 것이다. 이런 문제는 한 나라에서 해결할 문제가 아니라 국제적으로 반드시 해결해야할 문제라고 보인다. 상식적으로 봐도 사업을 해서 수익을 내는 나라에서 해당 국가가 정한 법인세를 내는 것이 당연하다고 본다.

구글의 사업 모토가 Don't be Evil인데, 하는 행동은 Evil을 넘어섰다.

그리고 국회의원들이 국감장에서 성토만 하면 뭐 하나? 국회의원들이 이를 막을 수 있는 법을 만들어서 자료를 공개하게 하면 되지 않나? 함께 출석을 하였던 페이스북 코리아의 데이안 여관 야오 대표가 뼈있는 한마디를 했다.

디클릭으로 글을 처음 게시해봤는데 이 포스팅 광고가 붙어서 들어와봤습니다. 국감에 고양이도 등장하고 요식업체 대표도 등장하고 별의 별 증인들이 다 나오는데 질문이나 응답수준은 뻔하고 뻔하네요.

입법부 사람들에게 '법을 만들면 법에 의거하여 공개하겠다'는 저런 합법적인 말을 하는 저 사람도 얄밉지만, 몇 년째 나오는 이야긴데 아직 관련법에 대한 논의조차 없다는 게 서글프기도 합니다.
