Have you ever been rejected? To say that it sucks, doesn't half cover the devastating emotion you experience because simply put, rejection hurts! At odd times, it hurts just that much more than other times, but, shit, It hurts! The sages say rejection is part of growing, part of life, right? And stuff like:"If you never get rejected, you’re not really trying."

In 2010, I stepped up my creative output. But, I got rejected even more and more often than at any time before.
I reviewed all of my 2008 rejections, and it felt like crap. Looking through the 2008 rejections file I had to relive the entire painful experiences in one gigantic session. It turned into a most valuable exercise when I eventually discovered what mistake I kept repeating every time I tried to set up a new business...

This is probably going to surprise you, but, hands down, the most important question everyone has to face when they want to start up their own business, is never, about “how” to do it. I know… it would seem like it would be, but actually, it really is not.

Honestly, my friend, I have checked this exhaustively, the one VITAL question every startup ever asked, is “why?”
Why do you want your own business in the first place?

Possibly, you want to enjoy the freedom of being your own boss and making your own decisions.

Or, It could be that you’re someone who wants to take on a huge challenge, that of building something significant – something that matters that you can stick your personal brand on.

Jack Canfield once wrote, "Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them."

Perhaps your original inspiration was to be in a position to live a great lifestyle, a style, or to afford to upgrade your house, it could be to provide for your family, or being in a financial position to help out the people you love or just taking an awesome vacation.

Possibly, you find deep gratification in touching or improving the lives of others: your employees and maybe, clients whose lives you affect through the services you provide.

Running my own business is important for all of those reasons but for me but they all boil down to one very important thing: “Income control.”

Because having my own business allows me to have complete control of my own income, my work, and my life.

And it’s a fantastic feeling to have that freedom of control.
