Unexpected Visit To The Airport Hospital @ Doha, Qatar
Hi Everyone,

As we were leaving Doha after our quick stopover heading for Europe, Baby M had a nose bleed just as we were lining to go through immigration. It stopped very quickly but airport staff came to help us with some tissues and told us that we should get it checked out before going through immigration and boarding the flight.

My concern is we may not have enough time to go through customs depending on how long it will take them to check on our baby as we know he is OK. They assured us it will be very quick and will assist us through immigration if we are running short on time. We waited for around 5 minutes before an airport nurse came riding his bicycle. We had to walk around 500m to an internal staff area to the airport emergency centre.

Inside it was like a hospital setup with 2 nurses/reception with doctors. The doctor came and checked on Baby M very quick, cleaned his nose up and gave us a saline type of drop for his nose as it is currently very dry. We also need to get some discharge paper work so we can also show them before boarding to ensure he is safe to be on the flight. We had a bit of time to go through immigration so the staff took us to a special lane and we were looked after very quickly. Thank you to all the staff at Doha airport for looking after our little man. He was very happy throughout the flight and we look forward to coming back on our way home back to Australia for another stopover!

Shame poor little thing. I used to suffer terribly with nosebleeds when I was a kid and now my nine year old son has also started to get them relatively often. Strange how they seem to affect children more than adults.

truth be told, I dont think there is much you can do about it actually... other than A) don't blow your nose and B) Lie down on your back and lift your head up for a few minutes. 

Gosh, I can remember lying on the floor of the girls bathroom at school with mountains of bloody toilet paper surrounding me hahahaha!

its mainly cos its was so hot outside like 35 degrees and then once indoors its like freezing so maybe his body had a shock of his life. he has been very brave this month so he defintaely will get something nice hahaha

Thank God it was nothing serious, my brother used to deal with something different during flights. The high altitude always affected his ears making him suffer a lot. 

The stewardess recommended us we would give him some bubble gum so he could release the pressure from his ears.

Eventually my family started buying bubble gum everytime we were going to travel, so that made him happy for obvious reasons (he was 9 years).

Praying for Baby M to be well and healthy and am glad everything went smoothly after that.

My son had it quite often beginning of this year but he is 7 years old already. And my sister who is a pediatric doctor wasn't concerned at all. Just said it is usual for some. Like thinning of something something in the nose. Like some people have unusual thinner something (which I forgot).

So I guess nothing to be worry about, speaking from pediatric doctor point of view. :)

Wow my boy had a nose bleed last night too! It was pretty dry here as well. He moved around a lot so had to give him an ice block to stop him picking at it! Hope your boy isn’t as bad as mine hehe.
