He used all the freshest herbs, the finest olive oil and knew just how to prepare the pesto to perfection. Always remember the unique smell in the kitchen as a kid. Loved it. We always had a nice loaf of bread to go with it as well as a fresh garden salad. My parents would drink wine and I would have either milk or juice. It probably was one of my favorite meals that he prepared back then. He would also do different pasta variations, sometimes red sauce, sometimes clam sauce, sometimes pesto. Just whatever he was in the mood for. We always gathered around when he made dishes like this. Nice memories, looking back.
