When it comes to giving value via the Steem blockchain, apps will serve 1 of 2 purposes:

Either they will provide utility or they will provide entertainment to their user base.

My friend was telling me about this earlier today, so he deserves all the credit. 

It’s rather simple, as he explained it.

Products and devices and services and technology and marketing all boils down to providing us either utility or entertainment in our lives. 

An app like Steem Monsters provides us with entertainment while an app like Steemhunt provides us with utility ( although an argument could be made that they do a little of both).

When you consider that your blog on Steemit is either entertainment or utility or both, you can identify your own value and what you’re providing your audience.
