<h2>I am Trying to be a better person. I am  trying to set a good  example for my children. But it is so much easier said than done. So many emotions are tied into our life experiences, and how we are feeling really affects how we act. But acting straight from a feeling is not always the best thing to do, as our emotions can really cloud our judgement.</h2> 

>When you become a parent, you have to realize that almost everything you do will effect them, so you do not have the freedom to just lash out or run away from what is happening in your life. Well,  actually you could , but you really are not being a good parent if you do. We need to recognize that being a parent It is one of the most important things that we  will do in our life. It is so life changing and profound, it really gives you the opportunity to become a better person. Where suddenly you were your own person, responsible only for yourself, now you are tied to this other being or beings for life.

<h4> Everything you say and do is seen by them, they observe everything. It is how they learn, they take everything in, the good and the bad and they are very good at reflecting that back onto you.</h4>

It is almost like you are being held under a magnifying glass and suddenly all those little things, all those little habits you have, are blown up. Even things you were not aware of, are now exposed. These amazing little beings, know you so well inside and out and they absolutely love you with all of their heart. They look to you to lead the way, to show them how it is to live in this world, how they should interact with others. They pick up on our tone of voice, on our emotions and because they are so intend on learning they really see us for who we are. And then, they begin to act like us. 

<b>Showing signs of impatience, of becoming frustrated when things do not go their way. They see us do this, when we do not even realize we are doing it. Of course they are all different and they all have their unique personalities, but a lot of the time the behaviours they have come from us. This is where they become our teachers, where they really show us who we are and give us the opportunity to then work on ourselves, to get to know ourselves better. </b>

>I have seen come across  people, who find it really difficult, adjusting to the role of a parent, who yearn for the freedom they believe they have lost. I have also seen the affect that this has had on their children. I remember when my first daughter was born and we would visit some friends who had kids also. One women was always complaining that her son was whinging all the time and just never gave her a break, but I also witnessed how she spoke in front of him. Saying things like, I am really allergic to his behaviour, to the fact that he has to follow me all the time. It was so obvious to me that her little boy was craving for attention from his mother, attention that was full of love, not resentment. He really felt her frustration and he was projecting it onto her. He was mirroring her and she could not see it, could not make the connection.

Like I have already said, becoming a parent is one of the most, if not, the most, important thing you will do. So it is so important to embrace it, to accept that yes my life has changed, it can not be as it was before. And to actually see how beautiful a gift it is, how fortunate you are to have this opportunity. Yes at times it is challenging, at times it is exhausting but the love and the learning you receive is staggering. Once you open yourself up to it. 

<h2>We are here to guide our children and they are here to show us how to be better people.</h2> 

>I write this fully aware that so many believe they are sacrificing their freedom when they become parents, but I have become more free because of mine. We are complex beings, we have many layers and at times we carry a lot of baggage. Children see past all of this, they see us for who we really are. 

>They help us remember that true happiness comes when we live in the moment, when we actually take the time to be still and be fully present. All that really matters is how we feel right now. All that really matters is what we are doing right now.</h4> 

>They come into this world with no concept of time, that is something we teach them. Because to them there is only now, this very moment. This is what living is all about, being the best person you can be in this moment. 

<h2>So today I write this, to remind myself that holding onto emotions, holding onto things that have happened in the past is not healthy. I write this to help me let go, so that from this moment, I can be fully in the present and be the best person for me and my children.</h2>
