Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; so focus on the short list, the one that starts: love, joy, peace and leave that other list alone, be it: adultery, fornication or the other, other list: thou shall not steal, kill. So whatsoever things are good, etc. Think on those things. 

Because, you don't want your prayers bouncing off the ceiling, or sky, not reaching heaven when you're in a tight spot. Treating your wife badly, but still praying? You should be afraid. Your prayers are not being heard. Offer to pray with her instead, whether you get along or not. 

You want your prayers to be heard. For you agnostics and atheists, a 'tight spot' is described as when things quickly get out of control: an unexpected cut or injury, some horror which enters your peripheral quickly, general emergency...we all became Christians. O God! Jesus! We're yelling out despite our language. Save me! O yeah, thou shall not take His name in vain, and don't cuss!
