One way or another - switching files and projects between engine and program versions is always

nothing really stays in place all across the board but if you stick with the old stuff you find yourself proverbially on a server that runs php 5 and miss out all the magic functions ... personally i think Syntax Error-ser has used one php8.0 specific command so far - which already would make it hard to move servers since most will be stuck on 7.3 (at best) or 7.4

Anyways ... the whole map is 100x100km , this bit here "Stenhjemme" is 4x5x5km - Unigine claims to be "to the centimeter"

And so we try , the standard house is 5x5m , which probably for medieval times is pretty large for standard guttertrash housing, however Stenhjemme aint your average settlement ofcourse - the "the Goldman" placeholder is humansized so it all fits more or less - AlleyCat thinks we should start with primitives for placement and then work from there to edit cubes into buildings (for the non standards that is)

the white tile (as AlleyCat would call it , one of the cursors) is about the size of this housing block weve been stuck in since the last destruction of life , 250m² ... so looking at that i wonder how they pack all those houses, ofcourse, its a hill so maybe that means there's more surface to it

As the grand director AlleyCat said : terrain is everywhere so the more we can work into the heightmap the less resources should be used , for instance the bridge and stuff around is no mesh , heightmaps are thus far first made in GIMP on one or two channels , mostly red-only in 15 or 30 steps (its a bit complex but not TOO once you know how that works) due to the option to scale it that gives one map a lot of options (hence the idea to create HEI-tek for future use and standard proto heightmaptex-generations

thats actually the 2d underlying picture which displays as what you see in the world, now wysiwig editors are probably not used like that but we also think most would use meshes i.o. the terrain itself for most stuff. If you know what goes where its not all that once you use a prefab engine. So in essence we more or less know what we're doing and given the fact that the most I.T. we ever had in schools was "plug plug in here and this is a floppy" we feel like we can hold heads high to the pro's with the million dollar studios

we just miss the million dollars :)

the bottorm right one is the original tiled map used for the browser game (that also wont be) which is stuck to the landmass as one huge albedo map so we can easily paint terrain-heights where needed b/c the picture shows what is where

Here it shows the tiled jpg as albedo, each tile represents 5km² , the whole settlement is visible which is alreayd stretching (i mean who the hell has a 20km view anywhere on earth?)
