Numerous books and videos have been made demonstrating that there really is an energetic exchange between the Earth and our body when we contact the earth in a clear way.*** *Benefits include reduction of inflammation, increased healing speed and often a sense of wellbeing too.*

The following documentary is one of the best known ones online for this topic and does a decent job of demonstrating some of the benefits of 'grounding' humans and animals to the Earth. In my own experience, I had a small lump appear on my wrist disappear quickly after I bought a 'grounding mat' which connects to the house electricity system's 'ground' connector and which sits under my hand as I use a computer mouse. The lump had been there for years and I am pretty clear it was due to grounding my body that it faded to nothing. Additionally, due to the size of my facial features, I am one of the people who sneeze when they look at the sun! The nerves that trigger the sneeze response are too close to my optic nerves and so when a very bright light such as the sun shines into my eyes, the increase in charges can trigger me to sneeze. I have found that if I connect to the Earth with bare feet and look at the sun, I simply don't sneeze - which i presume is because the nervous electrical energy in my body is able to be kept balanced through my connection to the Earth, stopping me from being triggered to sneeze.

Pretty interesting stuff! This documentary appears to show, among other things, a wheelchair bound man being able to walk again after nothing more than regularly grounding! Pretty amazing!
