BE ALONE RATHER THAN COMPROMISE YOUR CHARACTER WITH THE MULTITUDE

The popular adage above cannot be more profound. Let the musings in this blog help you build a solid character  now and in the future.

A mirror only reflects a man's face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses. It is a true fact of life that we tend to become like those we associate with. From the Biblical perspective, 1 Corinthians 15: 33 sums it all:

>Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character." (NIV)
Do not be misled: "Bad companionships corrupt good morals." (Berean Study Bible)
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. (KJV)
Stop being deceived: "Wicked friends lead to evil ends (International Standard Version)
Be not deceived, evil discourse corrupts pleasant minds. (Aramaic Bible in Plain English)
Don't let anyone deceive you. Associating with bad people will ruin decent people. (God's Word Translation)

In reference to the above scripture, Paul tried to remind the Greek Corinthians of an example of the perverse, immoral life they had lived in the past pointing them to the fact that they left such lives to the liberating and ennobling calling God has so graciously given them. He made bold to admonish the faithfuls that the company that they keep is destroying them, meaning they are gradually reabsorbing the attitudes and culture of the surrounding world. 

We all have to come to terms with this wake up call that one stands to lose morality when mingling with immoral people. Sometimes, we see that some people who lead a variant (negative) lifestyle to ours happen to work with us in the office, school, business places, and so on. We have to be on the guard in our mind we do not lose character in the  continuous meddling with them. Take a look at what John W. Ritenbaugh has to say:

>When we are around evil people, we will pick up their habits and their ways. When we choose as our companions people who have the standards of God and fellowship with them, they will likely rub off on us. We cannot fellowship with anyone better than God. That is the whole purpose of the relationship. ### Stay Alone?
It is a popular Biblical quote that "iron sharpeneth iron". If the people you stay with are the wrong type for you, remaining alone is could be a better option. This however doesn’t mean you have to remain alone for the rest of your life and seclude from humanity, it means that it is better to choose the people you want to be surrounded with. That is, chose to be with the people whose life goals synchronizes with yours. Having a good company is what can make you happy every day. With this, we have ti give ourselves some time alone to be able to locate the better partner for communication, business, etc. 

We have to be deliberate in the choice of our friends and companions. Not every word/person is worth our eartime. We have to consciously select the things we allow to feed our minds, lest we imitate the wrong habits that become wrong characters over time.

### Conclusion
Be watchful! bad company, companionships, evil communications, evil discourse, associating with Wicked friends, associating with bad people will lead to evil ends, will ruin decent people and pleasant minds, will flaw good character, manners and morals.

Really, when good groundnuts are roasted for consumption, they taste very good and sweet, but  the moment they mix with even one bad groundnut, it spoil the taste of the whole groundnuts. That is how our characters are, our lives change from good to worse immediately we choose to move with bad companies.
