# Hey Steemians!
Steemfest had been awesome, so much so that I didn't had the chance to properly post during the event themselves. To preserve the memories, i want to scribe every moment i can recall from the pictures i've taken onto the Blockchain, where it will be recorded for a long. How cool it is to one day look back at the post and walk down memory lane.
### to start, i'll blog from the first day of my arrival in Lisbon itself. I hope you enjoy reading as much as i enjoyed writing it.

It is my first time in Lisbon, Portugal. I don’t think I would ever have the opportunity to visit Lisbon if not because of Steemfest. So while I’m in Lisbon for Steemfest, I decided to reach Lisbon a few days earlier to get some extra time to play tourist in this old city.

Our AirBnb host is super nice and suggested some of the places in Lisbon that we can walk to from our AirBnb. She suggested quite a lot and to cover all of them, we have to start early.

Marquês de Pombal(Marquis of Pombal Square)

Praça Marques Pombal is just a brisk 13 minutes walk from our AirBnb. So we just walked down the hill, being very careful not to fall and roll down the hill. The old part of Lisbon (where the bulk of Steemfest occur) is unbelievably hilly! Im surprised at the local drive’s skill to navigate the city with stops on a steep slope. I don’t think I can ever drive here. I still remember how nervous I was during my driving test on that small hill. I think it was only luck that I get to pass that stage and got my driving license.

We decided to first visit Praça Marques Pombal as it is near to HF Hotel Fenix. We were planning to take the Shuttle Bus to the Steemfest’s venues so it is better to search for the hotel early and not being late on the first day of Steemfest!

Praça Marquis de Pombal is technically the center of Lisbon.
It is hard to miss the square since it is a roundabout located just in front of Hotel HF Fenix Lisboa and can be seen from afar. In the middle of the roundabout is the column dedicated to the First Marquess of Pombal, Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, a very powerful man. The lion on the side of his statue is a symbol of his power.

Parque Eduardo VII (Eduardo VII Park)

Next to Praça Marques Pombal is a public park. We decided to stroll around the park and enjoy the weather. It was sunny but at the same time a bit chilly so it felt very relaxing. In Malaysia, there’s no way we want to get under the Sun at 2pm.

The park is named after Edward VII of United Kingdom, who visited Portugal to strengthen the relationship between these 2 countries.

Pavilhão Carlos Lopes (The Pavilion Carlos Lopes)

Just beside the park is a pavilion. Not knowing what that was, we took photos of the Portugese tiles on the wall. It turns out to be a pavillion dedicated to a Portuguese athlete, Carlos Lopes, who won the marathon at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. The pavilion functions as a venue for concerts or cultural events. It’s a shame that we can’t enter the building as it is closed on Sundays. I’m sure the inside must be as pretty as the outside.

That’s me trying to understand the art :D

After strolling in the park for what felt like 2 hours, we still have so much energy. Well, it was only our first day so we are not tired yet. So we turned back and head towards Rossio. I will continue talking about our adventure in my next post, so stay tuned 😉
