Once again, the Apple Event is happening. In another hour or so, the iPhone 11 or whichever name they call it will be announced.
It has been years since the iPhone 6 has mesmerised the millions with a bigger screen and new design. I cannot even count how many new iPhones since, the sales of the smartphones have been on a steady decline.
The Apple team has not been able to come out with a new design that will once again grab the attention of buyers, not to say Apple fans themselves including me. Under the leadership of Tim Cook, design has not been top priority. Yet, doesn’t he see that design was the reason why the iPod and iMac has made it the bestseller it has become? Everybody knows that Tim Cook is not a hardware guy and every leader will bring to the table what he or she knows best. Steve Jobs put him at the helm for a good reason and the best person to take over has been chosen. After Steve left, Apple has become a trillion dollar company and it is thanks to Tim that this has happened. The Apple Watch is already the best smart watch there is on the market. With the introduction of the new TV streaming service, Apple TV+ and video game subscription service, Apple Arcade, Tim Cook is steering Apple away from being just a hardware provider but also a major service provider rivalling that of NetFlix and competing with Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft in the arena of video games.
Can there be another success story for the iPhone when all seem to be the same old same old upgrade of the phone. Better processor, better camera, better memory. What else is new you may ask?
I do not like it when they first leaked the iPhone X that later when it was revealed was exactly what was leaked.
Since Steve Jobs left, leaks have been called the leak culture. There is nothing to surprise us with. When Steve introduced products, it was a ‘wow I want to get that’ feeling. But these days it is just ‘ok… so what’ feeling.
Tim Cook and gang has been hard at work to make new hardware. But nothing is officially announced. We know that the team was working on a car. But that didn’t work out the way they wanted it to. Then there is the AR glasses. Now there is also AI that is the big thing in the years to come when robots will be part of our daily lives. What is it that Tim has Cooking for us in the years to come? I’m sure there are great products lined up. Still… a lot of people including my brother has become huge skeptics that tell me that Apple is lost. I believe in Tim Cook. I believe more in Apple. Steve must have left with good advice and if Tim was chosen, he will bring Apple back to its best years in the near future. But when you are so immersed in the same old ways of thinking and not somehow let yourself take a break and go to India for some LSD, maybe it is high time Tim does that.
What is expected tonight at the Apple Event?
Here is the list.
1. iPhone 11
2. MacBook Pro 16 inch

## iPhone 11
The iPhone is now more matured than ever. Nobody really wants an iPhone any more. When the iPhone XR was announced with its superior features for a low price, I thought people will be lining up for blocks to get it. It was a dud. I was very very disappointed. Maybe Tim wasn’t as disappointed as me. But I barely ate anything for days.
Now there is the iPhone that has 3 lenses on the back with a square enclosure on the back, iOS13 and possibly a better screen will be announced in 2 variations and 1 more that will succeed the iPhone XR.
I really wish that Tim can surprise us somehow. But that is not in his modus operandi. We think we know that the screen will be like the old iPhone XR. But I really pray that something new will be announced tonight. That the world will once again fall in love with the iPhone.
But truth be told, the phones are getting much too expensive to own. They keep increasing the prices and not many people in the world other than the wealthy will be able to purchase the phones.
In America, they only pay instalments of less than 100 dollars a month to obtain a phone. Yet, this selling point still does not resonate with the public. This really baffles me.
I just hope that something great will be announced tonight about the iPhone. Or else I’ll be another one of those people that will be hoping for a better year in 2020.
## MacBook Pro 16 inch
I wish I can get this when it comes out. But the price tag will deter a whole lot of us from purchasing it. This new large MacBook Pro will be the same size as the current largest MacBook Pro. Just that the bezels will be smaller and thus allowing a 16 inch to fit on these 15 inch MacBook Pro bodies.
The main selling point will be a better keyboard, better graphic cards and hopefully, they pack more RAM into the system. iMacs have been coming with 8GB for as long as I can remember. They never seem to want to put in a 16GB RAM model out of the box. I still do not see how I can upgrade my iMac to a 16GB without me taking the initiative to get it done with another pile of money to do so.
Maybe many people who haven’t bought the MacBook Pro for years will upgrade. We will see what happens tonight.
## Apple Watch Series 5
Reports have been surfacing that the new Apple Watch will have the same design as the Series 4 with improvements. That’s all we can get.
Will I upgrade mine since I have done so every single year because it costs so much less than the rest of the Apple family of products?
I have my doubts because I am starting a family soon and I cannot make more money any time as soon as say tomorrow. So I still have to wait and see what the new features are.
But it is possible that I will skip this year’s. Call it being able to make matured decisions.
## Apple Arcade and the Apple TV+
Now that there will be a video game subscription that will be able to be played across all Apple devices, I am super excited. I can play games on all my gadgets. That makes me worry about my Nintendo Switch, PS4 and XBOX. Will I ever play games on those devices ever again? With the capability to stream my gameplay live on Twitch with Apple Arcade, it gives me a possible revenue stream that many of us dream about. Yet, this is only profitable for the lucky few. It’s not that easy to get yourself on Twitch and be successful there. Not to say YouTube and the likes of video streaming platforms.
The Apple TV+ will be offered for the same price as NetFlix. So, if I were to have Apple TV+ and NetFlix, I will have to pay RM100+ for it. Apple Arcade will be around RM20+. This is easier to grab. Still I am waiting for the bundle to see whether there are any additional savings then.

Let’s hope and pray it will be better than anything we have ever witnessed in the history of Apple.
