But have your heard of Yuji Ijiri? He is a Japanese guy with a tiny Wikipedia entry who became the youngest Certified Public Accountant in Japan at the age of 21. He authored 200 published papers and 25 books and almost nobody has read them.It's a name that should not be forgotten. He laid the basic foundations for Bitcoin as early as 1989. That has to be respected.</p>

What i find rather annoying is how much important technical papers are in other languages, and american scientists are all like, all the important stuff is in english.  You don't need to learn another language.

But, if you wanted to be a scientist on the cutting edge, you should learn Russian, and just by reading the old papers of Kozyrev and the like, you would be 20 years ahead of your peers.

Russian space program beat US in most things while under communism and US was basically running on the backs of the German scientists and Operation Paperclip. Japan is still at the top when it comes to robotics and their animation is just way ahead of Hollywood. They just lack the budget to pull off anything great.
