Best Dev-OS for learners!
# Hello Steemians,
I have been learning few programming languages from a month and within this span of 30 days I have tried around 4-5 OS or you can say Linux distros until I finalized and selected the best match for me. I have dual booted the distro along with windows 10 lite mode! Here is my laptop specs,***"6 GB RAM, 500 Gb Hard drive, AMD Dual Core E1-1500, 1.48 GHz Processor and shitty old graphics card"***, even after 6 GB of RAM, my processor bottlenecks every smooth and lag-free working possibilities. In short, my potato laptop lags even while buffering youtube videos at 720p. So while choosing a perfect learning distro it becomes important for me to choose the right one which fits this specs and does not cause me trouble while learning process. I hope that this blog will cover most of your queries. So let's start!
# List of best Linux Distros that I have tried...
- Linuxmint
- Ubuntu 16.04
- Lubuntu
- Xubuntu

# What to keep in mind?
- As I said before, the low-end system will truly bottleneck your working conditions. And that moment when you just feel like to throw out your system tells everything about your mood, "Short-Temper". Jokes Apart! Just check your system specs.
- For this blog, I assume that you must have at least 1 GB RAM and at least 512 MB of hard drive space, that's all we want, the processor won't going to affect us, as we have the lowest processor and RAM hungry distro in the list.

# 1. Ubuntu
http://fossbytes.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/ubuntu-16.04-best-features-xenial-xerus-lts.jpg
- The very first distro that I have tried in my potato laptop is **Ubuntu 16.04**. And believe me, this was my first choice but as I started playing with this distro it started lagging as hell!
- Ubuntu needs at least 4 GB of RAM and a good processor, I got 6 GB but my processor made me change my choice.
- The best thing about this distro is that it looks **MODERN**, somewhat like MacOS but the hunger of RAM and processor of this distro is **highest** among all! If you are coming from a MacOS background than go with this! It will be easier!
- Multi-tasking was somewhat average and overall performance was poor! So it justifies that this distro will not go to make your day if you got potato pc like me!
- **Ratings- 3.5/5**

# 2. LinuxMint
https://fossbytes.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/linux-mint-18.3-sylvia.jpg
- The appearance of Ubuntu is somewhat like MacOS but in LinuxMint the appearance is similar to the Windows 10 or so. So any person or user from windows background will feel familiar with this distro.
- Recommended RAM is of 4 GB and it is less hungry as compared to Ubuntu. It will not look crispier like Ubuntu but it does what it says!
- Processor hunger-ness is very much lower than Ubuntu so you can **multi-task** more easily here. It comes with a search bar also, similar to windows!
- This distro is good but not the one which I am using, Linuxmint does lag sometimes and these lags are like the interruption in my learning process. However, you can give it a try if you have a good low budget processor.
- **Ratings-4.0/5**

# 3. Xubuntu
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Bnd4Tre8aQo/maxresdefault.jpg
- Xubuntu is the one which works perfectly for me and my system. One of the best and light-weight versions of Ubuntu. If you have 2 GB of RAM then go with this!
- Hunger is pretty much lower and it works like a charm on my laptop, rare lags and highest level of multi-tasking!
- It looks similar to windows, it is actually like Windows XP, so if you want somewhat like Windows XP's experience and performance than go with this!
- Though it looks old you can decorate it with several themes! This distro is so light, that it takes only 250 MB of your RAM for its operation! It also comes with a search bar, for a quick search.
- **Ratings - 4.5/5**

# 4. Lubuntu
http://lubuntu.me/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/lubuntu.png
- The lightest distro and it can easily run with 1 GB or less RAM. It requires only 180 MB of RAM for its operation.
- If you have a really old machine then go for this distro! Else Xubuntu will be a perfect choice.
- Processor hunger-ness is lowest and it is the fastest-lightest distro in this list. If you can ignore the decoration and all the beautification than this will be the best match for you.
- One of the drawbacks is that it doesn't come with **Search bar** so you can't do quick searching like in other distros on this list. That's one of the reasons why I didn't opt for this one. I am from Windows background, so search bar means a lot to me.
- **Ratings - 4.7/5**
