>Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, was up Wednesday by 3.3% as of press time. BTC was below the 10-hour moving average and the 50-hour, a bearish signal for market technicians.
Lack of bitcoin dry powder

>The total daily flow of bitcoin to exchanges is dipping. “Dry powder” refers to liquid assets waiting to be deployed; in the case of crypto that’s a balance on a wallet somewhere, and the amount being piled into exchanges seems to be slackening. Flow into exchanges suggest holders are planning to do something with the asset, i.e., sell.
*“It’s the weak hands and newbie investors with little or no experience of the bitcoin roller coaster that panicked,”* Kugelberg said.

>Global payments giant PayPal plans to let users withdraw cryptocurrency to third-party wallets, its blockchain lead said.
>Speaking Wednesday at CoinDesk’s Consensus 2021 conference, Jose Fernandez da Ponte told moderator Jeff John Roberts that a withdrawal function is in the works. At present, PayPal does not let users move cryptocurrency holdings off-platform, though it has let customers buy bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies since October 2020.
*“We want to make it as open as possible, and we want to give choice to our consumers, something that will let them pay in any way they want to pay,”* da Ponte said. *“They want to bring their crypto to us so they can use it in commerce, and we want them to be able to take the crypto they acquired with us and take it to the destination of their choice.”*

*“It absolutely makes sense that central banks will issue their own tokens,”* he said. But he did not accept the common view that only one out of stablecoins or CBDCs would become dominant.

>* Trading volume on decentralized exchanges sky-rocketed during the market sell-off last week.
>* Uniswap benefited the most, and the crash may have served to battle test the DeFi ecosystem, according to data firm Glassnode.
>But this has been a banner month for decentralized exchanges (DEXs), and as Ethereum and associated decentralized finance (DeFi) assets recover some of their losses, cryptocurrency analytics firm Glassnode sees bright spots throughout the DeFi ecosystem for stablecoins and liquidity as well.
*"With heightened volatility, DEX volume rocketed to all-time highs,"* Glassnode wrote in a May 26 post-mortem. Fairly early in the selloff, on May 19, a record $11.7 billion in trading volume took place on decentralized exchanges, which is particularly notable because asset prices at that point were declining. Moreover, during that stretch, *"total number of unique 30 day traders surpassed 1M traders for the first time."* Uniswap was the largest recipient of that use, tallying $5.7 billion in volume and handling 80% of all traders.

>Former crypto skeptic Carl Icahn, the founder of Icahn Enterprises, told Bloomberg he’s set to enter the crypto market in a “big way” — teasing an investment of around $1.5 billion.
>Icahn is an investor and former advisor to the Trump administration who has a net worth of $15.6 billion according to Forbes. In 2018 Icahn told CNBC that crypto is “ridiculous” and added “maybe I’m too old for them, but I wouldn’t touch that stuff.”
>But speaking on May 26, Icahn explained he's now considering a large investment and that entering the market in such a manner would “not be to buy a few coins or something”:
*“I mean, a big way for us would be a billion dollars, billion-and-a-half dollars ... I'm not going to say exactly."*
>Ryan Adams, Ether proponent and founder of crypto investment firm Mythos Capital and Bankless, speculated on Twitter that Icahn’s recent kite flying in the media, may indicate he has already entered the market:
*“If Carl Icahn hasn't already bought a billion dollars worth of ETH and BTC why would he announce he's about to buy a billion dollars worth of ETH and BTC.”*
