I'm a smoker. Not the heaviest of them but I do smoke. Nonetheless I took this photo while strolling through the beach of Minori, Italy. It's a very small beach, like the majority around there, but this one, as its name states, it's really small. 
Some guys and gals, volunteers, took the time to collect all of those cigarette butts and string them onto that wire. Why they did that? Maybe to point out the damage to our health and the propotions of the disaster?

For sure they wanted to point out the proportions of the disaster if from such a small beach you can gather so many cigarette butts but the damage they were trying to point out was to the planet

Seems that in the latest reseraches this damn cigarette butt is THE MAIN source of waste in the oceans, after plastic as a material. But if you take it by product, cigarette butts are the main product that poluates our oceans.
Think of that when you decide to throw it out of the car's window.
