## My favourite dessert. Do I have one? To be honest I don't think so, although I like everything that is homemade way more as the fabricated versions of it in the supermarket or... at the bakery or lunchroom. ### If you eat in a restaurant for some reason desserts are always disappointing. To me it always feels as a waste of money. Apple pie, for example, it is so Dutch but nowhere you can. find a decent piece. Those who advertise with 'homemade' and 'the way Granny made it' should take some extra lessons. My grannies never baked apple pie with pieces of Apple so hard and tasteless as everywhere is served for a sky-high price. ✔I love apple pie, but mine and so.do my kids. ✔I love applesauce but most of all mine. ✔ I love yogurt (the plain, sour kind). ✔I love tiramisu, especially the way I make it with the leftover _kruidnoten_ of December 5th. ✔I love my grannies cake but she died years ago and I never found a cake tasting the way hers did. ✔I love chocolate mousse but it has to be dark chocolate. ✔I.love strawberries with whipped cream. ✔I love semolina pudding (always said as soon as I would live on my own I would eat it daily. It never came that far.) ✔I love the cookies and pies I make out of cereals and chocolate (and so do my kids). ### The reality is, desserts are no longer a dessert. If I eat it its instead of a meal. A fact is also. I eat less and less and hardly Cook or bake any longer. Mass production has made some foods too artificial and hence lost the original flavors - GMO corn and apples. There were many varieties of apple but we, the human race, is losing or have already lost many varieties that are not commercially profitable in the mass market. Such tragedy. Apples has a high iron content and will "rust" - turn yellow/brown in a short time. I learn at a young age to use natural means to slow down that process. But, this is no longer necessary with mass-produced, altered, apples.

This is an interesting post, considering the title says no favourite desserts although the theme is my favourites. And you do have your favourites, just not the ones that do not taste the way you like them. It is never easy to find anything that is made the way you like them except from the person who made them, like yourself and your granny.
