Swerving through masses of people with a broken handled suitcase, I’ve merely made it from the house to the subway station and I feel as if I’ve already trekked across the whole city.  I’ll be doing that shortly.  The kindness showed by friends and acquaintances piles up as situations are constantly changing and I’m forced to find a place to store all this kindness without a base to call my own.  I can’t complain.  I am blessed at all the help coming my way.

I’ve already given rent for one month at a friends squat-like factory apartment.  12 people in a space meant for shipped goods.  I can begin my month there any time I wish, but free beds keep showing up, so I am holding off on staying there until I can find some cash flow.  I currently have just enough to last two weeks before I need to start busking. The downside to accepting all the offers of kindness is that I need to manage nearly all of my belongings, a suitcase full of cloths, a backpack with whatever I need for the day or week, a mini guitar and a full sized guitar which was lent to me by a close friend for upcoming shows.  Some of these things I will need at different times and so an elaborate schedule for transporting these belongings had to be arranged, one that would accommodate the occasional back cramps and headaches that come and go.

I am first moving my suitcase to the factory.  I’ve put all the belongings which could not be carried in the backpack and a plastic garbage bag which will carry clothing for a week.  I’ll meet a friend for some Thai food and to talk about some artwork he’s offered to help me with, of which he does not expect to be paid but I hope to pay him anyway sometime in the next year.  After eating with him, I’ll go across the city again to meet another friend (the one who lent me the guitar) for dinner.  

My week at the fancy villa is soon coming to an end, I was not able to use my friends fathers ID to sneak into the fancy pool.  I will be heading to a small island for my second week in purgatory, pretty nice if you ask me.  This friend moved to the island to sacrifice convenience for cheap rent and beaches.  Who could blame her?

So we will meet tomorrow, and go to a different island to see if both of us can find some work there for the coming weeks and to visit some of her friends.  I will bring my mini guitar and my computer to bring back home with her.  While I am living on the island I intend to write a whole lot, finish up some stories and songs, see if there are any opportunities to put on small events and swim as much as I can.  She lives a ten minute walk from the beach!  The restaurants on the island are all overpriced and so I will likely spend most of my time at her house or at the beach.  Fine by me, it will force me to concentrate.

My week on the island starts on Friday night.  During the daytime I have a performance/workshop, my first in 2 years.  I will be bringing my backpack and garbage bag full of cloths along with my friends guitar.  After the performance, I’ll catch the last boat with her and start my week on the island.  When I wake up the next morning, I am to meet some friends from oversees who are coming to visit, they will take a boat to come find me and we will crash a beach party hosted by friends of friends of friends...of friends.  If I’m lucky someone less distant will be there.

Before my week on the island is finished though, I’ll have to take a trip back to the city.  The friend who lent me his guitar has also agreed to help me record some songs.  He is one of my favorite songwriters and producers so this would be a big deal for me.  He had agreed two years but due to health issues, I was not able to record.  Later I asked him twice more but he was too busy.  Let’s see what happens this time.  I will also be paying him at a future date (in bitcoin) despite his willingness to help me for free.

When we start recording, I’ll leave his guitar at his house and after my week on the island I may come stay with him for a few days to see what we can do together.  Then I suppose I’ll make my way to the factory.  I can only imagine what will happen between now and then!
