<p> Hello steemians! I want to share with you my impressions of a wonderful trip to Italy. </p>
<p>In 2011, I graduated from college with honors, in addition, the younger son grow old enough that we could leave him with his grandparents. So, in July, we gathered our stuff and went to our friend to Italy. </p>
<p> Our Italian journey lasted for 10 days. We were in Rome, Pisa, Lucca, Venice, and then again returned to Rome. Our friend lives in Rome, so the first 3 days we spent there. The journey was very busy and full filled, so today, I will tell you only about the first day. Our journey started from St. Petersburg (Russia), then Helsinki Airport (Finland), then transplant in Paris (France) in a huge airport, Charles De Gaulle, which shocked me with its size, then Rome. </p>

<p> Rome is magnificent! It impressed me with its beauty, natural and man-made. All these blooming azaleas, huge cedars, magnificent churches and squares, fantastic beauty of the fountains and monuments!!! And of course, outdoor cafes and restaurants, and wonderful friendly and caring Italians. </p>
<p>We are very fortunate that we have such a wonderful friend who invited us to him. During these three days we lived in his apartment, which was a 15 minute walk to the Colosseum. In addition, our friend a perfectionist by nature, and we had the best of everything. We ate the best in Italy tiramissu, bought in a certain shop. We ate the best Italian ice cream, including ice cream with some brandy, which is already almost gone. We ate only organic food. We were drinking the best coffee, the best wine, the best port wine (although I do not drink port wine, but the boys were), and of course the best craft beer from around the world. We were in the most interesting places and got a lot of unforgettable experiences. </p>
<p> On the first days we went to St. Peter's Square. We were so amazed by the beauty of this place, that even forgot about the camera and there is not so many photos from that day, we simply enjoyed! Despite the fact that the day was very hot, the square was very crowded, people flooded the entire area. All were waiting for something. </p>

<p> Next to us stood and sat exhausted by heat and thirst Polish students. </p>

<p> It turned out that this was going to happen important for believers Catholics and very interesting for tourists like us, the event. The Pope addressed a sermon to all who came to the square and then said a prayer. </p>

<p> I'm not religious, but I want to tell you that it was very impressive, the sound of his voice is built in such a way that he seemed to penetrate inside you, you seemed to fall into some trance.</p>
<p> After that, we were able to take a walk on the square, to see these famous medallions with the horizon hands and to admire the architectural precision columns located on the square. These columns are arranged so that all depends on your viewing angle. If you stand at certain points of the square, you can enjoy watching Bernini`s optical effect: the columns of the colonnade are arranged in a single line. We also visited the Cathedral of St. Peter. </p>

<p> I have mentioned, that our friend is perfectionist and after visiting the St. Peter's Square, and the Cathedral of St. Peter, he decided to take us to the best pizza in Rome. We decided to go on foot, to enjoy the beautiful views. However, when we got to the pizzeria, it was closed and there was a note on the door. I do not remember the note verbatim content, but the meaning was: sorry guys, today we do not work, now a happy event in our family, we all went to the christening of our wonderful nephews. We could be upset, even though we were walking for pleasure, but before that the best pizzerias in Rome, we have come a long way under the scorching sun and we were not allowed to taste the best pizza! But this joyous note so impressed us with its simplicity and this warm attitude to the nephews that our mood did not fall, on the contrary. We returned home satisfied with what we have seen, talking about what a wonderful people, these Italians. </p>
<p>After this walk we needed a little rest. On the way home, we went to the store, bought a different delicious appetizers and white wine, and settled comfortably on the terrace on the roof. </p>

<p> In the evening, our friend went about his own business, and we decided to walk to the Coliseum. Our friend`s apartment located a 15-minute walk to it. Evening Rome no less beautiful, than in the day light. We went to one wonderful cafe, which were recommend by our friend, bought a delicious rice balls and eating them, walked through the evening streets, enjoying the views, exchanging impressions of the day. </p>

<p> We knew, that because of the lateness, the Coliseum is closed, but wanted to see it at least from the outside very much. We took a walk around the neighborhood and returned home, to rest and sleep, because we knew that tomorrow will be another busy day. </p>
