Secrets that no one will tell you about Nepal

It’s good to be fat:
If someone calls you fat in Nepal, please don't be disheartened because it's a compliment in Nepal. According to Nepalese people, if you’re not bulky, you’re not eating properly, and you’re not healthy. When I go back home, I struggle a lot because my family feeds me a lot as I am well maintained and not fat. So, be ready for it guys.

Be prepared for the horns:
It's not rude to honk your car horn in Nepal so just be prepared for the horns. If your driver is not using the horn then it's time to panic. Yes, because in Nepal, especially in Kathmandu a horn can save your life. Don’t believe me? Wait until you go there yourself!

Avoid kissing and getting physically close in public:
It’s offensive and uncomfortable for Nepalese people to get physically close, smooch and kiss in public. Luckily, you can hold hands and give hugs.

Learn to wait for chicken if you ordered it at the hill stations:
If you’re in a rush or at the hill stations or remote areas, please don't order chicken because they might take a little longer to find the chicken. Yes, it's correct, they are free-range chicken. But once you have these chickens, you’ll realize that it's worth the wait.

Rice and curries for breakfast:
Being bulky is not that hard in Nepal because Nepalese people have white rice, 2 or 3 different varieties of curries, side of pickle and lentil soup(daal) for breakfast and for lunch and dinner too.

Gautam Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal in 623 B.C. If you go to Nepal, do visit the sacred Lumbini. You’ll get closer to history.

If you didn't have momos while in Nepal, you're not in Nepal:
Why would you want any fast food when you have local Nepalese fast food. You’ll be surprised because every single restaurant in Nepal serves momos. Momo is like dumplings, native to Tibet and Nepal. They are amazing, one of my favorites and the only thing I crave while traveling. So cheers to momos guys.

If you're in a hurry to pee, do not breathe!
If there are only public toilets around you and you need to use toilet real bad then all you need to do is hold your breath, squat and release. If you’re not used to squatting, it is harder than it seems. My western friends struggled a lot in public toilets of Nepal.

Yeti is real:
Don’t believe it? A yeti skull is enclosed in the glass cabinet in the town of Khumjung in the Khumbu region. If you’re doing the Everest base camp, go have a look because it’s Khumjung is the trekking route for EBC camp.

Ask for hallucinogenic honey:
Bees that have been fed upon rhododendron (national flower of Nepal) pollen can be hallucinogenic. This kind of honey collected from the mad bees is used as medicine for hypertension and used as an alternative to viagra. Also, it is a very risky job as the beehives are attached high up on the cliffs.

I know absolutely nothing about Nepal and the culture but any place I can go and eat good food and not be worried about getting fat is a place I feel I can call home :)
