Hello steemians!

Today, I was able to add another "not-so-common" food to my list of foods I have ever tasted.

**TOPSHELL TECTUS NILOTICUS**

We call this SAMONG here in Leyte, Philippines. I don't know how others would call this.

>Samong is a member of shell family. Its shell is a bit bigger and heavier.

They say Samong is one of "the most valuable and sought-after" shell species because of its use as a raw material for mother-of-pearl buttons.

Hmmm...at first, I was really having second thoughts of trying this kind of food but well, I told myself I don't want to miss the opportunity of tasting it since it is not everyday that I can see samong. Actually it was just my first time seeing these shells.

This dish actually tastes good. I dip it on a vinegar with a little bit of spice. Wow, perfect!

This shell has become endangered because of its high demand due to its several use. This is actually used in making jewelries, buttons, accessories and various cosmetic products.

So, Samong is actually very pricey in the market. But here in our place, we only got one pail of them for only P 200.00 (Two Hundred Pesos).

Well, what are your thoughts about samong? 

Hmmm..If you happen to see these shells, I recommend you to try it. I am positive you will love it.
