I believe that web sites in the SteemIt family are suffering from a problem called "tag spam." Tag spam happens when people put irrelevant tags on a post in a vain hope of getting extra rewards.
To highlight this problem, I decided to go to the store and buy a can of SPAM. The product cost $3.49. SPAM has a long shelf life, I will keep this can in a dry space and consume in a year or so.
To signify tag spam, I took some old tags that were in storage and wrote the symbol for several currencies on Hive-Engine.
I arranged the photograph on a black cabinet pushed against a brick wall as I think the combination of a black table and rustic brick makes an intriguing background for the image.
Now, I was going to write a single article that suggested that the solution to tag spam would be for the tribes to only give rewards if the tag is in the first or second position.
I planned on writing a single article. While I was writing the article, I asked myself the question: What should a blogger do when a post is relevant to more than one community?
I think the answer to this question is obvious: If a writer is working on a topic that is of interest to multiple audience; then write a unique article for each of the audiences.
The author can link the different articles.
So, while I was writing my article about tag spam, I thought to myself: "Why not use the article about tag spam to show how one can write an article that spans multiple sites.
I am placing the first article on PhotoStreem which supplements rewards with the PHOTO token on [Steem-Engine](https://steem-engine.net).
This first picture talks about the photo which involves my skillful use of a commercial product placed on a shelf. I positioned the tags so that they would obscure the SPAM® trademark while leaving enough of the can visible to invoke the generic meaning of "spam" which is unwanted electronic messages.
Yes, the spam trademark issue is one of the more intriguing areas of trademark law. The name of a meat product influenced the name of a serious problem that effects electronic communications.
Despite the borderline nature of the image, I plan to use the same image on multiple articles to demonstrate how one can use an image to link articles on different platforms.
I believe that using a single image to link different articles is good practice. Some might consider this practice spam.
