I reached out to the students of st. Mary's college Namagunga where i was preparing their tennis team for the incoming open schools competitions scheduled to take place on 18th/03/2018 with them being the host.

I was assigned by the schools' sports master with the responsibility of officiating the tennis sport on this upcoming event and right now am warming up with my steemit identity to share with the various students from the different schools about steemit as they are enjoying their battles of which school is the best in the various sports fields.

About St. Mary's college namagunga
This is a typical girls scondary school located in mukono district.

>The idea to start the school was born out of a need to promote the then very much neglected education for girls and women in this country. The group of Missionaries that started the school had within their ministry the mission to uplift the standard and status of women in African society. At its inception in 1942 the school started with only 12 students. In 1946 it was officially opened as the first secondary school for girls in Uganda and by then it had 65 students. In 1964 the Government took over the management and up to date the school is a National school and Government aided.


>Objectives of the School
The present Government of Uganda has placed great emphasis on the sensitisation and emancipation of women particularly through education. One of the articles given prominence in the Government’s Education White Paper emphasises education of the girl child for development. This is very much in agreement with the vision of the founders of Mt. St. Mary’s College, Namagunga for this school. The school therefore is aligned on the following objectives:

>* To educate and emancipate young girls of this Nation and shape them through discipline and academic excellence into enlightened and God fearing citizens.
>* To sensitize and raise the status of women and girls through education and give them opportunity to participate/contribute to the development of society and their country.
>* To Give leadership training to young women to prepare them to competently assume leadership roles in this Nation.
>* To Equip young women with practical skills that will help them be self-sustaining.


>MOTTO
Per Scientiam ad Vertutem (Through Knowledge to Virtue) and indeed the school strives at all times to instill integrity and virtue in all the students along side the good academic knowledge the system offers.

## Making steemit known through tennis that is through offering free tennis training sessions to as many people as possible. This is bringing many to the knowledge of steemit by a way of attracting their attention to my beliefs in steemit and birthing a desire in many to join this great and caring steemit family.
