Today, quite rarely, a completely true story from my life (and not from others):
We use the house in a water filter for a well-known company whose name I will not mention so you do not think it's an advertisement. This jar is supposed to be replaced once a month and I make sure to do it in time (or a few days late).
Last Friday it was time to change the monthly filter. I began to disassemble the old filter from the jug and out of habit I looked up, where it should be a box of new filters.
Although we have a fairly large kitchen with more space and cabinets explaining, we always suffer from a lack of storage space (presumably because we always buy too many products). For years we have been storing a few boxes on the roof of the kitchen cabinet and there should also be a box of filters.
She was not there.
I was a little surprised. I checked inside the cupboard for safety but in fact I understood immediately what had happened: one of our cats was running this week on the cupboards upstairs. Behind the coffin on which the box lay was a fairly deep niche and probably the cat dropped the box there.
I took a chair, climbed up, and peered into the niche; indeed the filter box was there. Below it I noticed some potato chips and a little to the right, behind our microwave was a tin of wafers that had once been on the roof of the closet.
With some effort I managed to fish the filters and potato chips. The potato bags were covered with a thick, suspicious layer of dust. I told myself it was not so bad because they were closed but I checked the expiry dates. They were in 2009, 2010 and 2011 ... I threw the bags in the trash and Anam said that they were knocked out of the closet by a previous cat who is no longer alive.
Now I wanted to get the box of waffles out. To do this I took the microwave from its shelf and took out the box without any problems. It was quite new so everything was fine. I returned the microwave to the place and wanted to go back to replacing the filter (I still remembered it was the target) when I suddenly noticed that the display of the microwave was dark - meaning it was not plugged in.
I squeezed the device plug and the display appeared for a moment, but as soon as I left the plug it disappeared. A problem in the socket probably.
I was not excited, because under its outlet we have another outlet where a splitter is connected to the plug of the oven and there is also an outlet available. I connected the microwave to it and the problem was not solved. Then I noticed that the display of the oven was also dark.
I decided to strengthen the two sockets in the hope that this would solve the problem. I took a screwdriver and bolstered them. The bottom socket really went back to work, but the socket of the microwave did not. The next logical step would be to unplug the socket cover of the microwave to try to understand the fault there. I carefully dismantled the lid, making sure that the screw holding it did not fall on the floor, because there was a cupboard containing the microwater, the stove and two other drawers, so I knew that if the screw fell to the floor it would be very hard to find it.
Fortunately, the screw remained in my hands. To my disappointment, the cover of the socket itself fell to the floor far from my reach ...
Not bad. With the help of a cloud, I moved the refrigerator to the right of the oven and the microwave in the hope that I could remove the cover of the socket. To our surprise, it turned out that the floor under the refrigerator was very dirty, as if years had not washed it (in fact, it had not been washed for years). To our surprise, it turned out that there is a partition between the refrigerator and the cabinet of the microwave oven and the oven can not be easily reached. Luckily there was a small crack in the partition near the floor.
A cloud swept the floor under the refrigerator and I, using a telescopic stick (which I found at home to my delight), pushed the socket cover toward the slot so that Enam managed to get it out of there.
Now I could look leisurely on the socket itself and found that it was a bit rotated so that the holes in the socket were not exactly in front of the holes in the socket cover. I disconnected the electricity in the kitchen, turned the socket a bit, plugged in the lid, plugged in the power, returned the microwave and, to our joy, worked!
The mission was successful.
All we have left is to return the refrigerator to its place. And replace filter.
And I thought that replacing a filter is a simple task that takes a short time ...
I could rest on her laurels, but then we found ants in the kitchen... That's another story.
