 I've been interested in seeing Hue for a long time (in part, I admit, because it was my favorite map in a video game I used to play), but it exceeded all my expectations. For one, the center of the city was *much* bigger than I expected. It's outer wall is gigantic and runs about a kilometer in each direction. Inside that there is another gigantic wall, sealing off the "Imperial City," the former site of the royal palace, several government buildings, and the homes of high-ranking government officials. All of the photos you'll see here, with the exception of the last two, were taken around the Imperial City. It was especially fascinating to recall that this area was the site of one of the most intense battles of the Vietnam War. Many of the walls have gaping holes from explosives, and there were bullet holes all over the place. None of these photos capture that element very well, but keep it in mind as you scroll... Anyway, enjoy!
