#5 Post -<b>RALLY FOR RIVERS : -</b>

Hello,

 Rally for rivers is a breakthrough campaign,this is a campaign which is instigated by ISHA FOUNDATION to save the life lines of the rivers in INDIA.The motive of RALLY FOR RIVERS is "This is a campaign to raise awareness that our rivers are depleting. Everyone who consumes water must Rally For Rivers".

INDIA is a democratic country, in a democratic system the views of the majority of the population is considered. In order to campaign a positive rally for rivers into action effectively, we should get substantial support and demand from the people.

Ganga,Krishna,Narmada,Kaveri are the major and most significant rivers in INDIA. These rivers have nourished and nurtured us for thousands of years, now the time has come to nourish and nurture them back to health. INDIAN rivers are undergoing radical change, the main reasons for this change are over population,industrialization and development. The perennial rivers like Ganga,Yamuna,Indus,Narmada are becoming seasonal or parched.All the small rivers have already vanished.

<b> Evident Facts about our rivers : - </b>

-> 25% of INDIA is turning into desert.
-> In 15 years, we may have only half the water we need for our survival.
-> The Ganga is one of the most endangered rivers in the world.
-> The Godavari was dry along much of its length last year.
-> The Kaveri has lost 40% of its flow. Krishna and Narmada have lost around 60%

<b>How can we save our rivers : -</b>

 Isha Foundation offers a core solution to stabilize and revitalize our rivers,   they have a lot of experience in matters related to ENVIRONMENT and sustainability. Growing and maintaining a substantial amount of trees, for a minimum of at least <b>one</b> kilometer width along the river sides. In government owned lands along the riverside, forest trees would be planted and the organic fruit trees are planted on private lands.

This solution ensures that rivers are restored while enhancing farmers livelihood by more than doubling their income in five years. The availability of fruit also improves nutritional intake among people.
Trees help keep rivers perennial, mitigate floods and drought, increase precipitation, mitigate climate change and prevent soil erosion.

<b>What can we do to support  RALLY FOR RIVERS : -</b>

If you are concerned about INDIAN rivers, the simplest way to participate in reviving them is by giving a missed call to         <b>+91 80009 80009</b>. Don’t forget to encourage everyone you know to give a missed call too! Almost every grown-up in INDIA has a cellphone today. Giving a missed call is the simple way to support rally for rivers. In other words, your missed call will be considered as a vote in support for reviving our rivers.

<b>How did i support RALLY FOR RIVERS : -</b>

First simple thing i have done is that i gave a missed call to<b> +91 80009 80009</b> and participated in today's rally.

 I wrote about rally for rivers in my office notice board and explained everyone about the importance of rally for rivers and supporting them.
