Next Professional MMA fight this weekend!
Not mine, don't worry, my training partner Kris is going again though!

The original date on the poster was last week but the event was moved to tomorrow, February 29th in Kitchener.  Training camp wrapped up earlier this week and Kris has spent a great deal of time on the mats not just at his home gym of Stratford BJJ Academy http://www.http://stratfordbjj.com/, but neighbouring Muay Thai/striking school 5th Round Muay Thai http://www.fifthround.ca/ and other regional gyms.

Look at this murderers row of strikers.  This has become a regular part of his camp as he rounds out and evolves his grappling, submission and striking game.  Coming from a karate background and training the last 6 years in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu started him off right and iron sharpens iron.

We have made some promotional material to help with his branding and that of his sponsors.  www.fightsupply.ca is the gear sponsor, www.stratfordbjj.com is the home academy as part of the Jiu Jitsu For Life team, and www.MindfulMike.ca has come on board as the mental training entity.

Here is Kris rocking the custom shirts we had produced and you know what I am going to be wearing tomorrow night!

Weigh ins were just this morning and Kris has taken care of business as usual and come in on weight.  It is 20 or 30 pounds lighter than he walks around at so this is always a big trial heading into the fight.

His opponent is looking lean and mean as well.  I hope he didn't skip leg day too much as Kris has tree trunks and legs& arms have a tendency to be bent the wrong way when Kris is involved.

We are looking forward to a repeat of this scene which was from his last fight.  A whole crew of us are heading to the auditorium and promise to be nice and loud in our support.  Leading up to the fight, I am 10x more nervous than even he is.  No matter what happens, I know I am going to be proud of him, what he has accomplished, and the serious battles he chooses to wage.  I am thankful to have played even the tiniest part in his development as an athlete chasing his dreams.  Good friend and great fighter in the making.
