This is excellent @zen-art, I really didn't want to read any until I had mine written and posted, but you grabbed me. I love how you changed the title in doing so you really highlighted  the fact that segregation is the issue here, one against the other, but oh how it could change and in a sense it already is starting too . this is the same way that violence against races happens.  People start to segregate and differentiate.  saying that some nationalities are lower than the other.  color of the skin is less superior... etc.

when people can see "different" instead of same - that's when fear creeps in.  and fear  breeds caution, anxiety, aggression, violence.

when we can see ourselves in one another - then...  peace usually follows.

You are contradicting yourself here. __violence is always wrong.__ It can be justified in the case of defense. Bu it is still wrong. Banning them from beaches is totally acceptable. But the process of blacklisting said individuals can be a tricky mess.

In the end you talk enough sense to be resteemed. But I don't agree with everything.

Consider this, a ship is going down with limited space on the life boats. A medical Doctor is going to be left behind, is a woman or child expected to give up their seat for the Doctor, no matter his potential to save lives, or would Society brand him a coward and shame him?

In my opinion, men are disposable in this Society... especially if they're poor...

I liked the way you dug into some of the bigger systemic issues our culture faces. I agree that it is our divisions we create or uphold that are behind the negative aspects of our culture. I would say there is simply way too much emphasis on the differences between us than the similarities, and you made this point well. 

I think there is an interesting distinction between equal and same, and we can still be equal while honoring our differences. Men and women are not the same, although if respected equally there's no need for division.

Very thought-provoking post, and I love the violin graphic response to those offended at the end! It's a subject I've been thinking quite a lot about recently, because on one of the hillwalking social media threads I follow, people (mostly men) have been posting nude photos of themselves in the mountains (back view only!). It all started with a very attractive nude shot of a man posing on a mountain top, taken at 5am. That photo even made the newspapers. 
The comments on these threads are very interesting. 99 percent of the women love them, but only 60 or 70 percent of the men do. There are many critical responses - and all of them (the ones I've seen anyway) come from men. I think it's because they feel threatened. They see the nude photos as something they might be expected to aspire to. Most of the men who are enthusiastically stripping off on the mountain summits have pretty good bodies! 
It reminds me of the controversy over topless women in the newspapers. And to be honest, I don't know how I really feel about it! I might have to write a post on this subject...

Discrimination \- one of those demons that are pretty well part of us and one of those that we absolutely cannot do without, yet have to keep under strict control. Why knowing our demons and knowing how to deal with them is not part of our education...well, hopefully some time it will be.

You discriminate between the foods on offer, because you have to \- your innards have eons of experience in doing just that, having you drool over things that are more likely good for you and having a revulsion against things more likely bad. You discriminate against all but the one you choose as your mate, for reasons too many to even start popping off on \- yet it is good and right that you do so...up to a point.

Socially you discriminate between those you guess will be a threat to your quality of life and those you reckon can add to it.

Discrimination is one of those inner drivers of behavior embedded so deeply in our make-up that we cannot live without it, but has evolved to such a high degree of sophistication that it can become 'perverted', one may say, even 'corrupted', in a sense, in a manner that has it performing with a counterproductive outcome. And that because at the point where this deeply seated mechanism breaks the barrier between the subconscious, where it in essence resides, and conscious social interaction, where it also has a role to play, it becomes susceptible in making its choices, by communicated opinions.

Now some of these 'opinions' may be based on generations of experience, handed down by cultural tradition and may be of extremely good value in having us make the right choices as we progress through life.  But, as we all know, most opinions  are rather crappy convictions we hold because...well, the content of our culture has become a discombobulated great mess due to us not really knowing the good principles underlying our different traditions and us then getting confused by the mixing of cultures, the deliberate deceptions foisted on us by 'authorities' and perhaps most of all by the lies that come with greed driven competitive commerce...

So it's no wonder our precious faculty of discrimination continuously gets us in trouble, shunning those we should not, getting our diets all wrong, making foolish decisions all round and getting us religiously lost and desperately seeking for what fulfillment is really about.

Oops...I'd better turn on the brakes now \- but I trust, dear @zen-art that you will forgive me for the rant, as it is all your fault for invoking it...take responsibility girl! I sincerely hope it adds to your content.
