### I don't usually like to make predictions, but I'll make an exception here and say that if Trump goes on to win the 2020 presidential elections, it'll be because the Democrats will hand him that victory on a silver platter; they're being hard at work doing just that right now...<br>

If you've been following the Democrats these last couple of years, you probably already know what I'm about to say, but I'll briefly catch everyone up on the disaster that is the impeachment of president Trump. Yes, it's a disaster and will only diminish the Democrats' chances of winning the 2020 elections, and the chances of Trump getting voted out of office before those elections are non-existent. I haven't written much about this impeachment debacle yet, if at all, because it is just that: a debacle, an utterly stupid move by the Democrats that can only hurt them. Even if Trump is proven guilty, there will never be enough Republican votes to actually vote him out of the Oval Office. And Democrats know this, which leaves us with the question: why?

Democrats say that they go ahead with the [impeachment](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impeachment) on principal grounds, that their oath to protect the American Constitution compels them to protect the integrity of their democracy, which sounds like the right thing to do. In reality however, this move only shows how desperate the Democrats are to distinguish themselves from the Republican party, and how they need desperate measures like impeachment to do this, simply because they're unable to distinguish themselves by actual policies. This whole ugly episode proves one thing only, which is that both parties serve the same corporate masters. And the Republicans can at least claim, to an extent, that they've been honest about it, but for the Democrats such an admission would once and for all make them lose face.

So, what's the impeachment about? Trump is being accused of withholding military aid to Ukraine, and using that aid as leverage in a [quid pro quo](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quid_pro_quo). It is alleged that Trump wanted the Ukraine government to announce publicly that they would investigate the son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden for corruption; the military aid would only be resumed if that announcement was made. This would help Trump beat Joe Biden in 2020 if he was indeed the Democratic nominee, hence the quid pro quo. Now I'll spare you all the details, but if it can be proven that Trump indeed made such a deal with Ukraine, this would count as an impeachable offense; asking a foreign government to influence the national elections in one's own favor is just not done.

After countless hearings however, this absolute proof is still forthcoming, and I doubt that it ever will come. And even if it would come, the Republican Senate would never vote against their own president, so he'll stay in office regardless. And that will enable Trump to say that he's completely exonerated which will make his popularity rise even more. And I'll repeat: the Democrats know all this, they're acting like fools, but they're not dumb. And in the meantime the Democrats expose themselves even further as the hypocrites they are. Go back a few years and remember that Obama won his presidency on an anti war program; exactly the same as Trump. That Obama won on a pro working class program, exactly the same as Trump again. Remember that Obama was AGAINST giving military aid to Ukraine, and his Democratic party-members supported him all the way. Do you already feel the hypocrisy coming? Today, the Democrats are in a regular outrage when Trump withholds that aid! If they truly agreed with Obama, they should be applauding Trump for that decision! And in the larger scheme, it IS the right position to stop giving military aid to Ukraine; part of the many deals made after the Soviet Union fell was that NATO would stop expanding further to the east in Europe. NATO never honored that deal and kept expanding toward the Russian border, which is why America helps the country in its proxy-war against Russia.

All this hypocrisy aside, there's another major reason why the Democrats shoot themselves in the foot with this pointless impeachment: Senate Democrats, like presidential candidates Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, are obliged to be present during most of the impeachment process... They will not be able to be on the campaign-trail for a full month at least! This will hurt the chances of the only candidates that run on real change, the only candidates with a program that's beneficial for the working people instead of the rich. Right now there are millions of dollars worth of ads running on American TV against healthcare for all. The only candidate who's sure to fight against the insurance lobby, Bernie Sanders, is being blacked out by the mainstream media; watch the first linked video for more proof of that. As if that's not enough, watch the second linked video to see how Bernie (and Trump and Putin) gets smeared by another Democratic figurehead, war-hawk Hillary Clinton. She's so vindictive that she's willing to smear the only candidate who's able to succeed where she failed: win against Trump. It seems that everything comes together to conspire against Bernie's chances of winning the primaries first and the presidency after that. I get this nasty feeling that the Democrats would rather lose the elections than to embrace actual policies for the working people, because that would go against the interests of their corporate masters.

This is a war against the establishment powers of both political parties, and to win that war America, no, we all need the only Independent in the race to win in 2020, and that's Bernie Sanders. He has been fighting that fight for more than four decades now, and is the only one we can be SURE to fight against the corporate powers that own everything, the democracy itself included. The Democrats failure, or refusal rather to govern in name of the people instead of their billionaire donors has eroded any difference there was between them and the GOP, which is why they have fallen back on virtue signalling and more desperate measures like this ridiculous impeachment in order to distinguish themselves somewhat from their supposed ideological opponents. Bernie Sanders has to fight against both parties and has the right strategy to do so: his strength is in numbers as he has built the largest working class movement in modern American history. He can not win this war by himself and he knows that, which is why he said he will be the Organizer in Chief, not just the Commander in Chief, why he repeats "it's us, not me," and why he refuses to take a single billionaire's money.
