Quality is such a subjective trait, that it is near impossible to measure. What is quality to one is a waste of time to another. You mentioned the drop of 35K authors... and seem to propose that by expanding the platform into a wider variety of apps is going to offset that loss and maintain value. You might draw in users, but ultimately, there's little to nothing behind the steemit token and the interface that offers any real value to the token.... ultimately, if the tokens generated lose sufficient value where even witnessing is not profitable, even with a massive userbase, the system will collapse in on itself.
