I thought about another reason.
After reading this I believe that timing is why this reason due to Tether is the cause, and not what I thought about, which is independent of this timing.

Ok yeah, that makes sense. SBD took a massive jump, it seemed really weird at the time. I transferred a small amount of Steem the day before the jump.

why do people hold SBD instead of steem ? Steem price is very low at the moment I think buying steem and power up is better than holding SBD

Just a couple of hours ago it hit $2.14 I was so surprised and at the same time Steem fell down to $.52 just like you had predicted
