Thursday marks the Thanksgiving Holiday, here in the US of A.

With as strange and often painful a year as 2020 has been, finding things to be *"thankful"* for might be a bit of a challenge. Did you lose a friend or loved one to Covid? Did your job go away? Did this world lockdown cause hardship in your life?

Seems few of us have escaped unscathed.

## *A Strange Doctor's Visit*

I went to my doctor a few weeks back, for my annual checkup. It was a strange experience to go to a clinic during this pandemic, and it made me realize just *how much* we have cut back on our social movement this year.

Anyway, as I was talking to Dr. B about what sort of year I've had... and described a rather severe stomach flu/fever I had back in early October... she looked at me earnestly and declared *"Truthfully, not to alarm you, but I think you have Covid-19."*

It was rather sobering. At the time, I just thought I'd eaten some bad seafood and it overlapped with my having a cold. 

Of course, there's nothing we can do about it *now.* She admitted that the current antibody tests they have are inconclusive and *approximately useless.*

## *But Getting Back to Thankful*

This information was somewhat sobering... but at the same time, I am also very *thankful* that it was no worse than it was. I felt pretty horrible for about four days, and then just weak and not interested in doing much other than *sleeping* for ten days.

IF this was the Covid, I am also thankful that Mrs. Denmarkguy didn't get it. I'm pretty much strong as the proverbial horse, but she has an immune disorder that puts her in a higher risk group.

This illness is no joke!

## *Thanksgiving Day...*

... will be very quiet around here. Our daughter will *not* be coming over from Seattle because a couple of confirmed cases were among the people working in her office, so she's in voluntary isolation.

Another friend and her daughter whom we normally see also canceled because she had been exposed, as part of her regular work in the social services department. 

It's going to be quiet around here... but we'll still cook the turkey and all the extra bits, since one of the traditions of Thanksgiving is to enter a food coma...

## *Crypto Markets Finally Showing Signs of Life!*

For the first time in I-cannot-remember-how-long there's actually a lot of green numbers in the world of cryptocurrencies.

Even our native Steem token is up 30+% over the past week or so!

Maybe this is just a *"sympathy rally"* related to the rise of Bitcoin, or maybe it's something more substantial. Either way, I am thankful that we are seeing somewhat better days, even if just for a little while.

And I am also thankful for food and a roof over my head... there are many people in the world who don't even have the basics covered.
