# <center>Introduction</center>
I came to realize that our mind and body are like machines. Any machine that works efficiently must be properly maintained. Many people take their vehicles to technicians that service them periodically. Airliners have a long checklists of things that must be properly and carefully monitored in order to have a smooth flight. So it is with the human body. When we fail to take care of it, gradually it will break down and we need a hospital visit. But when we do the right things to keep our body fit and healthy, we are sure to perform efficiently. There are many things that I do to look after my mind and body. Here are just 3 of them.

# <center>For the Mind..</center>

**1.. Reading extensively:** I have learnt that reading opens up the mind. Reading expands our circle of knowledge and our understanding of the world around us. Reading is food for the mind. We are always influenced by the things we feed our mind. When we read, we are exercising the mind and stretching it to accommodate more. and freshen up. I read nearly everyday. The internet has made it very easy for me to read daily. However, reading printed literature is a culture that technology has not taken away from me. My favorite reading material is TIME magazine. Although because of the cost, I do not buy the current issue of this magazine, I usually buy 2 weeks older or there about. Although it is a news journal, I enjoy reading from seasoned writers usually featured there. This has helped my mind to better understand ideas and enhance the thought process. 

I will also use this opportunity to appreciate this Steemit platform. Lots of seasoned writers have been assembled here. There is no shortage of material to read. I enjoy various articles from authors from all over the world.
I will continue to read both online and printed material because the way I think and analyze situations has been helped through reading.

# <center>For my Body</center>

**2.. Exercise:** I make sure to stay fit by exercising regularly. My most frequent form of exercising is doing push-ups. I choose push-up because it is something I do inside my room after my morning prayers. Push-up has helped me to develop strong muscles and a fit body. I remember when I started doing push-ups for the first time, I could not complete 10 push-ups. I was able to do around 6 push-ups and I collapsed. My heart was beating very fast as though I climbed the highest mountain. But over time and with consistency, I was able to exert more power and increase the number of push-ups I am able to do. Currently, I do between 150 and 200 push-ups without breathing heavily afterwards. I also love playing football, but rarely do that because of time and engagements. 

I made this images for this article. I was able to do 190 push-ups in this round. I will improve my consistency, although I skip some days. But exercising has helped me a lot to take good care of my body and maintain some level of fitness.

**3.. Eating Vegetables and fruits:** I watch what I eat. I have read a lot about the nutritional value of vegetables and fruits. In this part of the world, our meals are mainly made up of carbohydrate foods like processed cassava, rice, yam, etc. While it may be difficult to have a balanced meal all the time, I try to have some vegetables or fruits in each meal. Sometimes, I just consume fruits as a meal. The loaded minerals and vitamins nourish my body and help me to stay healthy. I love consuming pumpkin leaves. Its very popular here in Nigeria. In this image below, it was used prepared together with this jollof rice.

I also love water-melons. Watermelon has high water content and it nourishes the body too. On a hot tropical weather, consuming watermelon alone or with some food helps the body to regulate temperature, as well as nourishes the body in other ways. I consume watermelon at least once in 2 days. Here is a lunch of Ground maize and water melons.

**4. Drinking coffee:** I like the taste of coffee so much. Beyond the taste, taking coffee in the morning keeps me alert and energized. It helps me to work in the morning without feeling tired. It also does not allow me to feel heavy or hungry in the early hours of the morning. 

I have two brands of coffee that I take. One is a product from the Philippines. Here is the picture below.

# <center>Conclusion</center>
The body is like a  machine. Take good care of it, and you will enjoy a healthy life. Do not take care of it, and the doctor will be your friend. I prefer the former. In the above discussed ways and others, I will continue to nourish my body and care for my mind. A healthy body is worth your time and effort, isn't it?

Waow you just made an indepth of a good regular body healthy tips @focusnow. Your methods of keeping the body healthy really can help you avoid being a regular at the hospital. Personally i love sports, i enjoy sports through playing football and considering i have a also had years of training in football sports is implemted into me already. Doing sports is definitely a very healthy habit. I most confuse i didn't like to read much i always rely on other methods of getting knowledge until i got connected to steemit. Ever since i have been able to enculcate the habit of reading and this has helped me greatly in expanding my knowledge all round. Eating fruits is a wonderful too, especially the watermelon i use to farm this myself. You keep such a highly daily routine and i do admire that.

**I will like to challenge you to a 30 days of 25 push ups. We do and submit our entries through a post daily**
