Anxiety and Depression Are Interdependent
The causes of anxiety vary from person to person. Examples of anxiety disorders are generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias or obsessive-compulsive disorder. You may also have more than one anxiety disease. A few examples of disorders are chronic anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
Anxiety disorders can either be short or long term. They can also be extreme or moderate in intensity. Some examples of short-term extreme anxiety are Generalized Anxiety Disorder, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. These are characterized by excessive worrying, unrealistic fear, and an overall sense of insecurity. Examples of long-term anxiety are chronic anxiety, specific phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder and occupational anxiety. These are chronic conditions that are characterized by excessive worry, fear and emotional upset over things that are usually not cause for concern.

The symptoms of anxiety may include excessive sweating, rapid heartbeat, heart palpitations, stomach pain, frequent urination, muscle tension and many others. If you experience any combination of these symptoms and the doctor believes you have a diagnosis of anxiety, then you should definitely seek help. In some cases your doctor will treat your anxiety as part of your medical treatment.

People with anxiety disorders often worry about embarrassing or strange events in their lives. Many times this happens in the form of irrational phobias. Some examples of phobias that cause anxiety include: agoraphobia (fear of leaving the house), panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and specific phobias. If you develop social anxiety while in public places, then your anxiety may have developed from a traumatic event in your life such as being in a car accident or being the target of an abusive act. Social anxiety disorders can be treated with psychotherapy and medications.

Specific symptoms include sweating, heart palpitations, nausea, diarrhea and muscle tension. If you have any of these symptoms more than two times a week for at least two weeks, then you should seek medical attention. Your doctor can perform blood tests and review medical history to determine if you suffer from any type of anxiety.

People who have social anxiety also experience problems with their physical health. If you feel anxious because you are constantly feeling sick, then this can lead to serious health issues. It is common for those who suffer from anxiety to develop an unhealthy relationship with drugs. If you use drugs to alleviate the symptoms of anxiety, then you run the risk of developing an addiction. If you use drugs to combat the symptoms of anxiety, you may also develop substance abuse problems and have problems with addiction in the future.

If you need help to get help for anxiety and you don't want to become dependent on prescription medications, then there are some natural remedies that you can use. Herbs and vitamins have been known to help fight anxiety. You can use herbs such as Passionflower, Valerian, and Lemon balm to help you relax and ease the symptoms of anxiety. When you supplement your diet with vitamins and herbs, it helps your body to absorb the nutrients better and gives your brain and nerves the necessary ingredients to function properly.

Finally, it is important that you identify specific phobias. Specific phobias are characterized by panic attacks, intense fear, or the inability to engage in certain activities. When you find out what exactly is triggering your anxiety attacks, you can take measures to overcome it. Once you figure out what causes your phobias, you will be better equipped to deal with them.

Anxiety and depression often go hand in hand and work together. When you suffer from anxiety or depression, then you are also at risk for developing mental health disorders such as the inability to concentrate, forgetfulness, coordination problems, and difficulty making decisions. Depression can also lead to suicidal thoughts and actions.

If you know that you are going to have problems with anxiety disorder or depression, then you should try to avoid certain things. First, you should avoid certain things that trigger anxiety attacks. This could include traumatic life events, certain smells, or food items. If you avoid these things in advance, you will be able to lessen your chances of having an attack while at home, at work, or during social occasions.

In addition to limiting certain things that you can do that might trigger an attack, you should learn how to recognize your anxiety symptoms early. Your doctor will be able to help you with this if he or she notices an abnormal behavior. However, if you have excessive anxiety symptoms and you feel like you are unable to control them, then you should seek treatment. Your doctor will be able to prescribe you medication that is often used to treat mental health disorders, as well as therapy.
