Passion Fun Priorities for a Successful Small Business Entrepreneur by Jeff Nichols is one of several books on business leadership and business planning that focus on how to get more done in less time. The author, Jeff Nichols, had been a successful business owner and executive before he knew anything about leadership or business planning. He is now a consultant to small business owners. I enjoyed his simple to understand style of writing and the way he presented the material in the book. It was easy to read and learn from. https://thumbor.forbes.com/thumbor/fit-in/1200x0/filters%3Aformat%28jpg%29/https%3A%2F%2Fspecials-images.forbesimg.com%2Fimageserve%2F422398525%2F0x0.jpg%3Ffit%3Dscale (https://thumbor.forbes.com/thumbor/fit-in/1200x0/filters%3Aformat%28jpg%29/https%3A%2F%2Fspecials-images.forbesimg.com%2Fimageserve%2F422398525%2F0x0.jpg%3Ffit%3Dscale) Most people believe they know what they want to do in business. They might even have specific goals and dreams of making thousands of dollars a month or running a very profitable company with hundreds of employees. They put their goals in writing and create a "to do" list. They make plans for each aspect of their businesses. They may even have financial goals such as buying a house and paying off all of their credit cards at the same time. I think a big problem for many business owners is that they start to focus on their business too much and lose focus of their personal lives and personal happiness. The vision they have created in their minds about what they want their business to be becomes unimportant once their business starts to succeed. This is when most people say, "I need a vacation." Having a passion for your business will make it happen. Passion is the driving force that will keep you going when times are tough and will motivate you to do things differently than you have done in the past. It will cause you to explore new opportunities and look for solutions that you never considered before. It is important to find out what your passions are and keep them at the forefront of your mind at all times. They will keep you going in the tough times and allow you to find a way out. I am a member of the American Society of Association Executives and a former business owner. While managing our company, we went through some down times and my business was suffering. I had to hire a new secretary and a bookkeeper because I couldn't handle doing everything myself. I had to let go of a lot of key employees so that I could concentrate on the business. It was tough but I held myself together and persevered. You can have just as much fun being part of the professionals of this amazing industry. You just need to remember that the only way to succeed in business is to be yourself and to make sure that you are enjoying your work day. If you don't enjoy your job, you will go through a lot of ups and downs and you won't reach the top as quick as you could have if you really loved what you were doing. Take time on a regular basis to just relax and enjoy being your true self. Find something that brings you joy and get away from the business of the world for a little bit. One great way to do this is to take a vacation or to just get away from it all for a few days. Find a place that you love and make it a point to visit that one day a year. https://hs-marketing.imgix.net/images/uploads/inspirational-customer-service-quotes.png?ixlib=gatsby-transform-url-1.0.2&fit=crop&ar=1.777%3A1&auto=format%2Ccompress (https://hs-marketing.imgix.net/images/uploads/inspirational-customer-service-quotes.png?ixlib=gatsby-transform-url-1.0.2&fit=crop&ar=1.777%3A1&auto=format%2Ccompress) Make a vacation a once a year thing. Make it something that you look forward to and then you will find that you get more done because you are having fun and not working at something that makes you miserable. Just creating a few hours each week where you can just relax and forget about the rest of the world is enough to rejuvenate you and get you ready to face your next challenge. Once you start taking steps to create more passion fun in your life, you will soon see how your business will grow and you will be so happy that you never wanted a job in the first place!
