Great pics! :) There are many things you can learn from experiences like that. I generally don't leave the house without a compass, map, headlamp and a small emergency kit (it has a plastic shelter ,firestarting tools etc). And that's just when I am going for something small. (The animals are scary but the most dangerous thing are falling off a cliff and succumbing to hypothermia or lack of water.)
