So pleased to be selected for MAP! Several steemers I follow and admire are already participating so I am honoured to be joining them. So by way of introduction here is my journey - I learned about steem several months ago from two good friends @rebeccaryan and @knarly327 who knew I liked to write. My initial thought was to write a series for Canadians looking for winter long-stays in Portugal, 15 done now and a few more to go. Here's one of them - https://steemit.com/travel/@brightongreg/portugal-11-vinho-porto-cerveja These took a while to write and had a limited audience, but through replies to them I started to meet folks like @tattoodjay and @melinda010100 whose work introduced me to photography on steem. I've always been into photography but am my own worst critic (I think we all underestimate our work) so was reluctant to post until @outerground encouraged me. Glad he did. Here's one of my posts that was selected recently by #goldenhourphotography: https://steemit.com/goldenhourphotography/@brightongreg/golden-hour-photography-contest-entry-1-cape-breton-nova-scotia-canada I was also encouraged by @dswigle who maintains a list of photo challenges, and entering these helped me revisit my work and experiment with editing and shooting. One of the best challenges #monomad also recently selected one of my posts - https://steemit.com/monomad/@brightongreg/monomad-week-9-letters-museum-of-contemporary-art-shanghai-china Along the way I created my own fun challenge - https://steemit.com/distinctivesigns/@brightongreg/distinctive-signs-a-new-tag Finally, my major project now is to post a series about our 90-day roadtrip in 2016 through Tahiti, Australia and New Zealand. Looking at a lot of travel posts, @lizanomadsoul being one of the best, I've changed my approach a bit. Portugal was heavy on text with a few photos; for the 90-day roadtrip I'm trying to focus on photos with just enough text to link them together. This is a good example that was popular with my followers; you'll also notice in the comments I was asked by #steemitworldmap to help them with beta testing, and I'm glad I've been able to support this exciting initiative. https://steemit.com/travel/@brightongreg/australia-7-the-red-centre-uluru-northern-territory So that's me, but I would be remiss if I didn't also mention @ackhoo, @nolasco, and @pixelfan who along with many others have shown me their great work and encouraged me to show mine! I hope you will follow me for the rest of my journey!
