WE THE PEOPLE…

<center>**WE THE PEOPLE…**</center>

We the people 
are aware we're not free
but we muddle along
pretending we don't see

Though there's no Monarch
destined to rule
they still seem to treat us
like children at school

Stealing our liberty
at the drop of a dime
enforcing unfair laws
just to keep us in line

Use it as a tool
to bend our very will
dangle it about
from high up on the hill

Accepting the facade
believing in the lie
marching off to war
even if we don't comply

Speaking for the truth
no longer rules the day
hijacking all the news
just to get their way

We came to this New World
to form a perfect Union
governed by its people
and not just some illusion

Freedoms not a fantasy
a distant far off dream
that lives within the ether
hoping to be seen

It inhabits all our souls
lives inside our heart
waiting for its reign
or at least a chance to start

That sovereignty we chased
the dream of being free
has never really changed
we all just want to be.

This is true. We might be called free nations, independent countries but we all are still bounded and restricted. Liked it. Keep up the good work. Only writers like you and me can open people's eyes.
