Finish “all in one” Dishwasher Packets

[source](https://www.google.com/search?q=finish+dishwashing+pods&rlz=1C1GGRV_enUS748US748&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=JLmcKxKqbrnFgM%253A%252CblBFpqMaumwzgM%252C_&usg=AI4_-kRM-6mdjDg3mj26tXJfsUAWDEGoDg&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiBy6L3n8DfAhVs9IMKHfDqCkoQ9QEwHnoECAMQDA#imgrc=JLmcKxKqbrnFgM:)

Having your dishes cleaned and without spots has been a lifelong problem but if you can afford a dishwasher then you should be able to afford the best detergent to help you keep your dishes clean and spot free. The easiest way that I know to do that is by purchasing these little blue magic packets called Finish “all in one” made by the Reckitt Benckiser Company and they are also made in the USA, in the state of New Jersey.

**Description**
Depending on which size box of Finish that you choose will depend on how many packets that you get, and in this case you will get 20 packs to a box of finish. These are not cheap, for instance if you were to purchase the big container of 60 packs it will cost you 16 to 20 dollars. Each of these packages will cost you about 5 dollars each but you can purchase the case at Sam's club for only $19.99. This particular pack has a 20 liquid packed power packs inside. But, there are several scents that you can purchase

Each of the packs inside are individually packaged to a specified amount of detergent. You will have no more measuring like you have to do with the powder of worry about using too much. Each of these packets has a grease fighting detergent inside of them. If you have hard water you may need some extra help to stop filming and spotting. I have hard water and Finish is the only dish-washing detergent that puts a stop to all of that. This packet comes in a blue liquid inside wrapped in plastic which will melt off and dissipate during the washing operation. There will be no sign of any plastic left inside of your dishwasher after you are done.

**Warnings**
If one of these packs just happens to open up accidentally and was to get into your eyes, or if your child happens to swallow one of these packets then this could be very harmful. If they get it into their eyes then you will need to rinse then for 15 minutes and if swallowed, you will have to make them drink a glass of water and call the doctor and call poison control.

**Experience**
The first that you should know is that if you are going to store these somewhere warm, I have to tell you there is a good possibly that each of the packets will melt together. With that being said, you should make sure that you store this in a place that is not to get too warm. These are very easy to use, all you have to do is reach into the bag and grab a hold of one of the packets and place it into your soap compartment. You do not have to worry about a pre-wash, because this is strong enough that you can skip that cycle. Definitely, don't take the plastic coating off of the product inside. This wrapper will melt off and disappear, this will dissolve and you will never see one little shred of evidence. You will only need one pack per wash, but you have to make sure that you lock the dispenser door to make sure that the pack stays in place. That’s all there is to it, just let the dishwasher do the hard work.

These packets are very small and are 4 times the concentrate to allow only a little is needed to do a full load. It is hard for me to smell any fragrance that this has to offer, but I do smell a small hint of freshness when I first open the door to unload the clean dishes. These come in fresh and orange scents. These have powerful grease cutting cleaning power. We have noticed that these will remove tea, coffee, burnt on foods, and any dried on foods left over night in the washer or sink.

**Conclusion**
These pack of power and are a luxury, but are very essential if you have a automatic dishwasher. The do cost a little more than the powder but these are pre-measured and there is no mess and no fuss as long as you do not let them get stuck together. These may also cost you a lot in the beginning but you will be using less detergent. You will get the power of fighting any grease, and the fact that you know that this is safe for the environment and any wild life.

Ant-Man and the Wasp on vuonna 2018 ensi-iltansa saanut yhdysvaltalainen supersankarielokuva, joka perustuu Marvel Comicsin sarjakuvahahmoihin Scott Lang / Muurahaismies sekä Hope van Dyne / Ampiainen. Se on jatko-osa vuoden 2015 elokuvalle Ant-Man ja Marvel Cinematic Universen (MCU) kahdeskymmenes elokuva. Elokuvan ohjaa Peyton Reed ja käsikirjoittavat Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, Paul Rudd, Andrew Barrer ja Gabriel Ferrari. Rudd esiintyy myös elokuvan pääosassa. Muissa keskeisissä rooleissa esiintyvät Evangeline Lilly, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip ”T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John-Kamen, Abby Ryder Fortson, Randall Park, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne ja Michael Douglas. Elokuvassa Scott Lang ja Hope van Dyne pyrkivät auttamaan Hank Pymiä tuomaan Janet van Dynen pois kvanttimaailmasta.

Neuvottelut Ant-Manin jatko-osasta alkoivat heti elokuvan ensi-illan jälkeen ja Ant-Man and the Wasp julkistettiin virallisesti lokakuussa 2015, Ruddin ja Lillyn palatessa rooleihinsa. Kuvaukset alkoivat Pinewood Atlanta Studiosilla elokuussa 2017, Fayetten piirikunnassa, Georgiassa, ja elokuvaa kuvattiin myös Atlantan metropolisella alueella, San Fransiscossa, Savannahissa, Georgiassa ja Havaijilla. Kuvaukset päättyivät marraskuussa 2017.

Ant-Man and the Wasp sai maailmanensi-iltansa Hollywoodissa 25. kesäkuuta 2018.

Finnish President Denies Having Raking Conversation With Trump

<p>While visiting California this weekend, President Donald Trump said Finnish President Sauli Niinisto told him that “raking” was part of the country’s forest management before insinuating that it’s something the United States should be doing to mitigate wildfires. The remark was bizarre, to be sure. But now, Niinisto says that no such conversation ever happened.</p>

Is English Endangering Finnish And Other Small Languages?
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/44757797015/in/dateposted-public/" title="DSC_0555"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1944/44757797015_69b70fab63_k.jpg" width="1367" height="2048" alt="DSC_0555"></a>

<i>It's very hard to find pictures that support the story among mine. I hope this one will convey a sense of looming threat in keeping with the topic. lol</i>

On October 26, the Chairman of the Board of Finnish Language at the Institute for the Languages of Finland Jaakko Leino made a statement that English is starting to threaten the scope of the usage of Finnish in Finland and that he was gravely concerned about that. What he was referring to was the fact that the status of Finnish as a language of higher education has come under threat as some M.Sc. and MA programs at universities are offered only in English. Also, in some niche fields and even in some larger ones the work necessary to translate the jargon of the field into Finnish has been neglected. Some officials have been talking about allowing the Matriculation Exam at upper secondary schools to be taken in English as well.

Finnish is not a very small language in global comparison. It is in the top 2% of the largest languages measured by number of speakers. But another important measure of the well-being of a language is the scope of its usage. The status of Finnish as the dominant language in Finland in government and higher education is the result of centuries of struggle. This is a matter of choice at an official level, nothing we have no influence over.

Some have even suggested that English be made a third official language in Finland alongside Finnish and Swedish. I find that completely unacceptable. English has no place whatsoever as a language of government in Finland at any level. The law would require that official documents be translated into English. I shudder to think about the poor level of English to be found in the documents that government offices at national and at local levels would be required to produce. Mikael Jungner, a former politician, Managing Director of the Finnish Broadcasting Corporation, Public Affairs Manager at Microsoft Finland and a current partner at a communications consulting company has advocated that idea in order to make Finland lucrative for professionals who intend to live and work in Finland for a few years. He says a few years is too short a time to properly learn a foreign language. Sure, but that's no reason force a foreign language upon all of society. Surely, in those cases employers can arrange for help for their employees.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/44492324865/in/dateposted-public/" title="DSC_0185"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1924/44492324865_412fcd18d1_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1367" alt="DSC_0185"></a>

This entire discussion is embarrassing. English as an official language in a country where it is not spoken by the population as a first language is a relic of colonialism. Native speakers of Russian outnumber native speakers of English in Finland by an order of magnitude. Should we consider to make Russian an official language in Finland?

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/44633441134/in/dateposted-public/" title="DSC_0085"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1945/44633441134_8a0b4bf4ab_k.jpg" width="2048" height="1367" alt="DSC_0085"></a>

Despite using English every day I consider it to be a foreign language to me. Not a second language, a foreign language. I have zero ownership of it. I do not belong to any community of its users that has any say on how it is used. I model my own use of English after normal educated middle-class people of the Southeast of England. With my Canadian relatives (Vancouver, BC) I've always used their variant of the language. English something I'm only borrowing. I'm trying not to break it.

Swedish is the second official language of Finland and the Finland-Swedish community is part of the nation. I prefer to use Swedish with Finland-Swedes if I meet one whose command of Finnish is not clearly superior to my knowledge of Swedish. I have done that on Steem as well.

Trying to grasp Polish
As the date for Steemfest in Poland is getting closer and closer, I decided to take a look into the Polish language, starting with the basic, alphabet, cause it's nice to pronounce things correctly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XL1X26xNA38

After watching the video, I must say that I'm quite amused of how many ways Polish (and Slavic languages) have figured a way to say [s]. Or those sssssnake voices (it makes me think that the best snake whisperers would be Slavs), you know what I mean. If not, watch the video.

Even though they have a gazcillion ways of zcaying thingsz (sorry), I like that the letters are at least consistent (am I right?) with pronunciation, like in Finnish actually, most of the time.

<h2>Oh, oh, I found a real term for "snake voices": <b>[sibilant](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sibilant)</b>.</h2>

Now I can speak using real terms, so civilized.

So, Polish seems to have... many sibilants:

<h2>c, ć, s, ś, z, ź, ż </h2>

Only zetas alone you have three different kinds, damn.

Oh, then there's also these _nasal vowels:_

<h2>ą, ę</h2>

Just look the video how their pronounced.

Right, then there's the l with a cross

<h2>Ł, ł</h2>

which is just like /w/ in English.

<b>Anyhow, to get back to the topic</b>, the reason why I found the amount of sibilants in Polish amusing and slightly overwhelming personally, is because in Finnish, instead of having 7 sibilants, we have one... Yes, ONE snake voice to cover all purposes, and it's pronounced the same _every time_. Not that stupid inconsistency like in English.

Here it goes, it's

<h1>s</h1>

It's essentially the same as <em>the</em> s (out of the seven different ones).

So, it might take couple of trials to get used to the idea that my s is suddenly 7 different kinds of s.

<b>And to make it more confusing</b>, you combine these together!?

<h2>cz, sz, śc, ćź, żc(?), śz(?) </h2>

In Finnish we have it way more simple:

<h2>ss</h2>

Basically you just take the one s and prolong it when you see there's two of them.

<b>In Polish there's a word</b>

<h2>cześć!</h2>

which means "hi!"

But as a Finn doesn't recognize half of those letters, he/she would just say

<h2>tsess</h2>

and start wondering why does it sound so much like "chess" in english.

If he/she was particularly unmotivated to learn this new language, he would just make it

<h2>ses</h2>

We obviously like to make things simple when it comes to "snake voices", however, in Finnish we make things way more complicated with <b>vowels</b> and <b>combining them</b>:

<h2>hääyöaate = night wedding idea</h2>

Six vowels in a row – nice.

While that isn't exactly a real world, it's technically correct to say it.

Right, you may want to know how to say hääyöaate so you can impress your friends:

_Ä_ is like _a_ in _as_, and when it's two ä's in a row, you just say it like _ass_ without the two esses in the end. Easy, right? Just keep the ass rule in mind.

_Y_ is similar as in the word _two_ or _too_ in English.

_Ö_... well... [like this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiUDj6jTgTY).

_A_ is like _u_ in the words _fuck_ and _undone_. Wait... it's also the _o_ in the latter word... Yeah, inconsistent language like I already told you.

_E_ is like _e_ in _held_. Weird, that word is actually consistent with Finnish pronunciation.

Now that you know 5 out of 8 Finnish vowels already, I'll teach you the remaining ones and then you're ready to read Finnish.

_I_ is like _e_ in _east_.

_O_ as _o_ in _only_ or _often_.

_U_ as in _school_.

<h3>Great now you can read Finnish!</h3>

Minä söin eilen jäätelöä hyvän työpäivän jälkeen vaivattuani öylättiä öisiä häitä varten

= Yesterday I ate ice cream after having knead wafer for the night wedding.

I know, the sentence makes little sense, I just wanted to return the favor of the zcczsccs.

So, with all those vowels, a drunk Finnish man is easy to spot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUyFg9xoPKk

OHHOÄÄÄEAJAIAIAAIHJAÄAÄAEAEAIJHAIHEOEHOOAEAE (bemoans in Finnish) PERKELE!!! (swears in Finnish)

Now you might be questioning that why am I bringing this up. Well, two reasons:

Number 1 is that I hope I won't get so drunk that my language flips back to my mother tongue and I start to sound like in the above video.

Number 2, I hope there won't be as much snow in Krakow as in the video. Actually snow is worst coupled with alcohol because passing out in cold might be fatal. So, now I'm just hoping @guyfawkes4-20 won't drown me with Palinka. I'm afraid even a single shot of that stuff will get me tipsy.

<p>English synopsis:</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Eric is a Finnish boy who has Tourette's Syndrome, Dysphasia and Dystonia. He suffers from tics and bouts of aggression. He has, among other things, been kicked out of a nursery and been sent home from school in first grade by the school nurse because of "being too sick to go to school". A teacher reported Eric to the police after being kicked hard in the stomach by him. At that time, Eric was a little boy weighing 25 kg.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The boy has no friends. His neurological disorders have an interesting side effect, however. Eric is a keen student of foreign languages and has knowledge of 29 of them. I'd say his lucky to have been born into a loving upper middle class family with the resources to help him. Having an above average level of cognitive horsepower will probably help him a lot in overcoming his difficulties.</p>

Finnish For Foreigners: The Names Of The Months
In nearly every European language, the names of the months are borrowed from the Romans. This is not the case in Finnish. Their origin is partly a matter of anybody's guess and partly in agriculture. <i>Kuu</i> means moon or month.

It would be interesting to hear what the names of the months mean in your language if they are not based on Latin.

## Tammikuu - January

![20180116_134357.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmW8cdWZLHdDHiBeVMori3mFxbdd6DEZHa1JVsTqMX2Ear/20180116_134357.jpg)

In standard Finnish, <i>tammi</i> means oak. However, oak does not grow in Finland except for the southern and southwestern coastal areas. Originally, tammi used to mean axis or heartwood, the hardened dead central part of a tree. That part was used as the axis in mills. January was thought of as being the center of the annual cycle.

## Helmikuu - February

![20180202_132659.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmfEJyETU1GYawsKdt1ZDme6RJ52A2eponhfS2QgXhXpQg/20180202_132659.jpg)

<i>Helmi</i> means pearl. It refers to the observation that towards small drops or "pearls" of ice form on the branches of trees. "Mettä on jäähelmes" is an old saying in Southern Ostrobothnia in the west of the country meaning that there are ice pearls in the forest.

## Maaliskuu - March

![20180331_211422.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmVYrUj3nV7WDgNXPLCJZkJpjtyvF2GqNMJC8qnA2DtchH/20180331_211422.jpg)

The word for earth is <i>maa</i>. Maaliskuu is the month when the ground is revealed from under the snow. This is debated but seems likely.

## Huhtikuu - April

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/26943760087/in/dateposted-public/" title="20180430_220334"><img src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/823/26943760087_e0f4d2a099_o.jpg" width="4038" height="2271" alt="20180430_220334"></a>

The word <i>huhti</i> or huhta means a forest clearing made by cutting and burning the trees and the rest of the plants in slash-and-burn agriculture. The burning is done in April because it is easier to control the fire because at that time the forest floor is not too dry, yet.

## Toukokuu - May

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/42344213311/in/dateposted-public/" title="20180525_162653"><img src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/902/42344213311_987ffe9b3f_o.jpg" width="4128" height="2322" alt="20180525_162653"></a>

The word <i>touko</i> is an old and obsolete word that refers to field work done in the spring. It's also a man's name but very rare.

## Kesäkuu - June

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/27890004277/in/dateposted-public/" title="20180612_194929"><img src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/884/27890004277_45ae5ac000_o.jpg" width="3832" height="2156" alt="20180612_194929"></a>

The word <i>kesä</i> refers to <i>kesanto</i> which is the state in which a field left unused for a year is after tilling it for the first time in crop rotation. In modern Finnish, <i>kesä</i> means summer. <i>Suvi</i> is the word commonly used in past centuries. It is a woman's name and only in poetic use nowadays.

## Heinäkuu - July

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/28626923957/in/dateposted-public/" title="20180719_205902"><img src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/858/28626923957_1696001553_o.jpg" width="3949" height="2221" alt="20180719_205902"></a>

<i>Heinä</i> means hay. July is the month when hay is cut, baled and stored for cattle fodder. July used to be and is a busy month for farmers. I've once harvested hay. It was over twenty years ago when my family and I were visiting a farm owned by the brother in law of an uncle of mine. The process was mechanized except that the hay bales left behind by a machine pulled by a tractor had to be picked up and thrown into a cart. It was a very hot day. It was good exercise and fun too, because the farm owner had plenty of beer for everyone. That is the only time I've actually done real work (not paid, of course) under the influence of alcohol.

## Elokuu - August

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/29426596877/in/dateposted-public/" title="20180830_134939"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1850/29426596877_6cf7075413_o.jpg" width="4128" height="2322" alt="20180830_134939"></a>

Elokuu means harvest month. Crops are harvested in Finland in August and September.

## Syyskuu - September

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/42656026750/in/dateposted-public/" title="kuva20"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1869/42656026750_33928b9a75_o.jpg" width="960" height="540" alt="kuva20"></a>

<i>Syksy</i> means autumn. <i>Syys</i> is a prefix used in compound words that means the same.

## Lokakuu - October

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/43213929560/in/dateposted-public/" title="20181001_090231"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1930/43213929560_93bac566ba_o.jpg" width="4120" height="2317" alt="20181001_090231"></a>

Lokakuu literally means dirt month (<i>loka</i> = dirt). The power of the sun is weak, it's rainy and the sun is not powerful enough to dry the ground very quickly.

## Marraskuu - November

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/7916014@N02/31003117411" title="#iisalmi #haukiniemi #jää #ice #is #marraskuu #november #talvi #winter #vinter #ranta #järvi #sjö #lake"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5749/31003117411_8caf31f4cf_o.jpg" width="1080" height="1080" alt="#iisalmi #haukiniemi #jää #ice #is #marraskuu #november #talvi #winter #vinter #ranta #järvi #sjö #lake"></a>

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/7916014@N02/31003117411">Image by Pia Leppänen</a> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/">CC BY-SA 2.0</a>

<i>Marras</i> or <i>marto</i> are archaic words that mean dead. Marraskuu = dead month. All but perennial plants are dead. All the leaves have fallen. Migratory birds are gone. The sun is low, the days are short and there is no persistent snow cover, yet. I find November to be the most desolate of all the months in Finland.

## Joulukuu - December

<i></i>
<i>Joulu</i> means Christmas. The word is a loanword from the old Germanic word Yule or Yuletide meaning the ancient Germanic winter festival.

We visited a place called "Hook" in Helsinki to drink beer and have the best chicken available in Helsinki. You can choose from over 6 levels of spice and 10 dips and they offer insane amounts like 200 wings at once, just for one person!

I'm not a very big fan of spices so I chose "Medium". This was very spicy for me and it's the second weakest that they offer! I don't even know how spicy all the others must be.

The food was excellent, as always.

Finnish For Foreigners: Laiskajaakko

<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob_De_la_Gardie#/media/File:Jacob_De_la_Gardie_1606.jpg">Image Credit</a>

<i>The original Laiskajaakko, Jacob De la Gardie</i>

<i>Laiskajaakko</i> literally means <i>lazy Jaakko</i>. Jaakko is a man's name. Everybody knows this expression but few people know that the original Jaakko is <a href="https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakob_De_la_Gardie">Jakob de la Gardie</a>. Jakob de la Gardie (1583-1652) was a Swedish count, military commander, Marshall and statesman whose troops occupied <a href="https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novgorod">Novgorod</a>, Russia for six years. The troops would joke about it saying: "Lähti suvi, lähti talvi, vaan ei lähde Laiska-Jaakko" (= "Summer went, winter went, Laiska Jaakko will stay.")

Finnish For Foreigners: Asennuskalja
<i>Asennuskalja</i> literally means "installation beer". I've never had an <i>asennuskalja</i> because I don't think any <i>asennus</i> of mine can be improved by enjoying beer while at it. <i>Asentaminen</i> is not exactly my forte and I'm not your go-to guy if something needs to be <i>asentaa</i>. I do it at home (the wife is of big help) because I'm the <i>only</i> guy. Anyway, the previous owner of our house left a fridge in the garage. American vintage cars are his hobby and I can only presume that the fridge was for <i>asennuskaljat</i>.

The highest temperature today was only 24 C. It was cloudy and the air felt humid. It rained quite a lot yesterday. Because of the <a href="https://steemit.com/life/@markkujantunen/had-my-toyota-maintained-today">tie rod end situation</a> in our Toyota (going to be fixed on Tuesday), I decided not to risk it and drive to the city and asked Jaro to pick me up from home on the way to the <a href="https://steemit.com/finland/@markkujantunen/kylmae-kivi-go-tournament-in-lahti">tournament</a> venue. As he and his family had planned to set out for Lapland today evening and stay overnight a couple of hours north of here at relatives, he had to leave immediately after the tournament. I went for a beer with Matti and Antti. After that, I took a bus home. I had to carry home a couple of bags filled with stuff needed at the tournament about 700 m from the bus stop and was sweating like a pig. It's 18 C as I'm writing this sitting at my desk in my study at home with the window completely open. I just had a warm shower and it's doesn't feel cold at all. It's nice and cool which is welcome respite from the heat. I could actually use a beer and I'm going to get one next.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/11853904@N02/41747321960/in/datetaken-public/" title="20180722_011510"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1761/41747321960_66348b2c59.jpg" width="281" height="500" alt="20180722_011510"></a>

<i>This is the fridge left by the previous owner. The stuff in front of it are parts of the gazebo we brought home a few days ago. The weather and the tournament were in the way of putting it together. It will be done tomorrow. It's going to be sunny and hot again.</i>

Finnish For Foreigners: Heittää Lusikka Nurkkaan
![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPvmDUM65pckxAYvUKd15xBsbsfbKM17SFFgsG4PJ6wb5/image.png)

<a href="https://pxhere.com/fi/photo/1142556">Image Credit</a>

<i>Heittää lusikka nurkkaan</i> literally means to "throw a spoon into a corner (of a room)". It means to die. The origin of the expression is probably in the medieval custom of everyone possessing a personal spoon. When someone died, they no longer needed to eat which is when they longer needed their spoon, either. The German expression "den Löffel abgeben" which means "to give up the spoon" refers to the same thing.

I have come up with a Finnish euphemism of my own meaning dying:

<i>Muuttaa (ikkunattomaan) kellariyksiöön seurakunnan tontille</i>

In English:

<i>To move into a (windowless) basement studio apartment on a parish-owned property lot</i>

Finnish For Foreigners: Potkaista Tyhjää
![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmXkvfJN5RHKW4e2v3LFCUn2q1TkEVm8ihwS7vjuvNsCUU/image.png)

<a href="https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Born_to_Die_-_The_Paradise_Edition.png">Image Credit</a>

<i>Potkaista tyhjää</i> literally means "to kick emptiness". It means "to kick the bucket" (to die) and it is used similarly. Its origin is probably in <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadaveric_spasm">cadaveric spasms</a>, a rare form of muscular stiffening that may happen at the moment of death. In the old days, Finnish people probably noticed this phenomenon in domestic animals and more rarely in dead people. These days, death is removed from our everyday experience as people go to hospitals to die and even farmers do not get to observe their livestock die as they are slaughtered in industrial slaughterhouses.

Finnish For Foreigners: Uusavuton
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2QvonakCOU

<i>Uusavuton</i> is made up the prefix <i>uus-</i> meaning the same as the English prefix "neo". <i>Avuton</i> means helpless, unresourceful or lacking in basic life skills.

A person who is <i>uusavuton</i> is a product of the disappearance of the do-it-your-self culture and skills that used to be considered essential. For example, someone who is lacking in trivial cooking or cleaning skills could considered an example of an <i>uusavuton</i> person. But computer illiteracy, for example, is not considered <i>uusavuttomuus</i>.

Finnish For Foreigners: Kukkahattutäti

<a href="https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kukkahattut%C3%A4ti#/media/File:Model%C3%A8s_de_Madame_Carlier_1897.jpg">Image Credit</a>

<i>Kukkahattutäti</i> literally means flower-hatted auntie. In colloquial speech it refers to a person - nearly always a woman - who publicly dishes out moralistic, often naive advice to other people or tells other people how they should live.

The term <i>Kukkahattutäti</i> most likely originates in hats typically worn by upper middle class or upper middle class ladies of the 19th century. The temperance movement and the women's right movement were early bastions of <i>kukkahattutädit</i>. Does your language have an equivalent term?

Finnish For Foreigners: Pakkopulla
<i>Pakkopulla</i> is a very common colloquial word in Finnish. It literally means obligatory pulla.

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/hfb/70528106/" title="Tähtipulla"><img src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/28/70528106_ae80222460.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Tähtipulla"></a>

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/hfb/70528106/">Image Credit</a> <a href="https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/2.0/">CC BY-ND 2.0</a>

<i>A Finnish pulla </i>

Pulla is a cardamom flavored sweet roll. The simplest and the most common type is like in the above picture but without the star on top. The prefix <i>pakko</i> means "obligatory". Generally <i>pakkopulla</i> means a task that one is loath to but must do, a formality one does not enjoy. The origin of this expression is in the custom of enjoying a <i>pulla</i> or a slice of the long version of <i>pulla</i> before taking a slice of cream cake. Going straight for the cream cake is considered a sign of bad manners. Ministers of the church are probably more familiar with the literal kind of <i>pakkopulla</i> than they would like. At all funerals, weddings and other such occasions coffee and pulla are always served. Especially younger ministers who have not yet developed high tolerance for caffeine must be having constant tremors from excessive caffeine. Finland has the highest coffee consumption per capita in the world.

Suomibotin lyhyet päivitykset / Suomibotti updates
<h2>Suomeksi!</h2>
Swedish and English below!

Hei kaikki!

Lupaan jonkinlaisen pienen palkinnon kaikille uusien suomalaisten ilmiantajille. Samalla voitte myös yrittää houkutella kaverinne Steemitin käyttäjiksi antamalla Suomibotin luoda tili heille! Pyytäkää vain ystävää ottamaan yhteys osoitteeseen suomibottisteemit [at] gmail.com.

<h2>English</h2>

I haven't posted in a while and decided to write a short update on what's new on Suomibotti.

First of all, the automatic votes seem to work well. However, if you notice any issues with automatic votes please contact Suomibotti OR tell it on [steem.chat Finland-channel](https://steem.chat/channel/finland).

Secondly, we have a new curator helping Suomibotti to find and upvote high quality content. He can upvote and resteem high quality posts and hopefully find new Finnish users.

Third and last thing: If you find any new Finnish users Suomibotti is not yet following, please let me know!
I'll try to come up with rewards for everyone who finds Finnish users Suomibotti is not yet following.
