Achievement 1: Introduction
Hi everyone

I'm Krystiana Wetton (48) from New Zealand.

I live with my partner Rangi, step-son Marley, dogs Lexi and London, and cats Levi, Diesel and Donut. I work as a financial adviser, mainly helping people get mortgages.

![275997425_2164903853648822_504924671283829166_n.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmWTrSWwBpWE6K3VS2mQLJvyiYkeRL5hnkw4s1MnSy8Ank/275997425_2164903853648822_504924671283829166_n.jpg)

I live in Taranaki, on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island. It is a beautiful part of the world and I’ll be sharing photos of the stunning scenery, like this.

*Mt Taranaki (formerly known as Egmont)*

My other interests are DIY, gardening and creative writing. I used to work as a journalist and am keen to dust off the keyboard. I’m planning on posting about life in New Zealand and the adventures I get up to along the way. There’s never a dull moment with two weimaraners and a six-year-old in tow.

I’m hoping Steemit will give me an opportunity to learn about other countries and cultures. I don’t have much experience with Steemit or crypto so will be frequenting the newbies community.

I found Steemit through a family friend, who has been a great help. Thanks @kiwiscanfly for the tips.

Looking forward to sharing some fun and interesting posts and reading some of yours.

Below: Updated photo - with correct name.

Introducing Lexi the weimaraner
Lexi is the first dog I have owned. We started competing in agility a few years ago and got totally hooked. So much so, I got another weimaraner puppy London (more on her next time). Double trouble to say the least! Lexi and I have also done tracking, obedience, scenting, dancing to music, tricks and flygility.

As a puppy, Lexi’s quiet, laid-back nature led me to believe it would literally be a walk in the park. Just a week later, the first crime had been committed – destruction of irreplaceable family photos. I researched other breeds but couldn't get past the sleek coated, athletic German gun dog. Nearly every website tried to put me off - they are prone to separation anxiety, need hours of exercise and cats are one of their favourite prey.

![SAM_2377.JPG](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbkWAS2ivE63DnncKBn8CUL6dfF9ZNKHzoCP6Ao81X3sP/SAM_2377.JPG)

I work full-time, have three cats and had never owned a dog before. With help from the local dog training club, Lexi is focused, happy and in most cases does what she's told. But she needs something to keep her mind busy and body active, otherwise she gets into trouble - big trouble. To date, she's ran off a cliff, poured paint over herself, got her head stuck in a gate and ran through a glass window. She's been hit by a car and been taken to the vets multiple times for rather strange injuries. Most recently, she nearly drowned after swimming into a rip chasing a pair of ducks.

The most dramatic incident was when she went missing after touching an electric fence. She took off along the beach but we didn’t know in what direction. I flew home early from a work trip in Wellington and arrived just as the search was about to be called off. With a heavy heart, I returned to my car as darkness fell. To my shock, there she was, waiting patiently. Over eight hours, Lexi had travelled 15km and crossed 10 rivers/streams to find me. How did she know I would be at this specific carpark, 20km from home, just as we had lost hope of finding her?

Teaching boys to love housework
Here's my step-son Marley (6) who I am trying to instil a love of housework. He's crazy about using the leaf blower so I gave him a turn on the cordless vacuum. Looks promising!

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/qndxBH-Oc0Y" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This is my first post on Steemit, so here's a bit about me.

I live in Taranaki, a beautiful spot on the coast of New Zealand's North Island. Along with Marley and his dad, there are two dogs and three cats in our household.

I work from home as a financial adviser - helping Kiwis buy their first home is the most rewarding part.

Being new to Steemit, I have a lot to learn but it looks like a heap of fun! I plan to post about New Zealand, my family, pets and other bits and pieces you will hopefully find interesting.

Congratulations to the Both teams Bangladesh and New-Zealand
</center><div class="text-justify">

The test series between Bangladesh and New Zealand is over. History has shown that Bangladesh has won the 1st test match, but Bangladesh has lost the 2nd test by an innings. We all know that Bangladesh will lose this test match. Bangladesh has decided to bowl after winning this toss. We have all seen what the New Zealand batsmen have done to the Bangladeshi bowlers. New Zealand scored 561 runs in the first innings. In that innings, there is also Captain Tom Latham's Double Century and Conway's Century.

Batting in the first innings, Bangladesh started losing one wicket after another. Bangladesh can score 127 runs for some runs made by Yasir Ali Rabbi and Nurul Hasan Sohan. Our first innings ended with 395 runs behind New Zealand.

However, in the second innings, Bangladesh batted much better than in the first innings. Batsmen have been able to run fairly. Some batsmen have been able to score 20 to 30 runs. But the one Bangladesh were most satisfied with in the second innings was Liton Das. In fact, he did not play like a test style in this innings but played in an ODI style, scoring only 106 balls, the second century of his international test career.

Bangladesh scored 278 runs in the second innings. It was not enough to take the lead, but Bangladesh were 117 runs behind in their run. Although none of us expected such a bad rate. However, this is the first time that Bangladesh has been able to draw a Test series against New Zealand. There is probably a series against Afghanistan ahead. I hope Bangladesh will play well there. After losing one match, New Zealand has come back very well.

Success will come very rarely if they play in such a way
</center> <div class="text-justify">

I have reviewed some issues after watching Bangladesh play. I want to share them with you,
Two days before the start of the game, there was a lot of discussion on social media about Christchurch's wicket. Seeing the green wicket, everyone thought that Bangladesh would face a difficult test. Shakib Al Hasan said in an interview that if he win the toss, he would take the ball. So when Bangladesh won the toss, Mominul Haque wanted to bowl very naturally.

<center>![image.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmT22yYnxALhyTt3fdK7nWiF3bHX6GtGynSXTMLBkfaRjd/image.png)</center>

He made the decision with confidence because of Ebadat and Taskin, who bowled very well in the previous match. Looking at the batting of Bangladesh today, it is clear that there was enough help in the wicket. Then why did Bangladesh fail? The answer is very simple. The goal of Taskin and Ebadat was to get wickets. They became so desperate that they completely forgot the key to success in the previous match. In the previous game, there was no expectation pressure. So the bowlers of Bangladesh bowled, keeping only the basics. As a result, they got success.

No bowler has shown any discipline in this match. Ebadat in particular, whether he was bowing short, full, or back of a length at various points throughout the pitch. He gave the example of James Anderson after the previous match. How did Anderson get so many wickets? If you notice, Anderson bowls in a controlled manner all the time. Never concede too much run. This is why he is so successful today.

In the same way as Boult, Southee has bowled only one place. and got the result in hand. Conway was run out yesterday morning for a relatively good ball. Several wickets fell soon after. In my opinion, Shariful Islam bowled the best ball in the first innings. Batting is not easy in such a condition. So if inexperienced batsmen are to blame, there is nothing to be done about it. These are just some of the goal-setting techniques to increase skills that they need to take care of. Otherwise, success will come very rarely in such a way.

Our pace bowlers deserve more criticism than our batsmen due to lack of Swing & Extra Bounce
</center><div class="text-justify">

We often say one thing: the pitch becomes bowling-friendly when Bangladesh is batting and the pitch becomes batting-friendly when the opponent is batting. However, in most cases, the main issue does not exist in the pitch. There is a difference in our bowling quality.

<center>[Source](https://www.hippopx.com/en/batsman-cricket-defense-ball-game-india-competition-player-271274)</center>
When the Bangladeshi pacers are bowling, they can only swing 0.6 degrees in the beginning. New Zealand bowlers, on the other hand, got a 1.8 degree swing from the start. This requires more bowling technique and the ability to swing from the bowlers than the assistance of the pitch. If there was grass on Pacey Pitch, the Taskin should have at least got the seam movement.

The previous ball's swing was supposed to be more than 1.8 degrees in the trap in which Liton was dismissed by Trent Boult. Due to the moisture on the pitch on the first day, the Taskins got less bounce, but there was a condition to get a fair amount of bounce from a good spot on this pitch.

Our pace bowlers deserve more criticism than our batsmen! If the bowling skills do not improve, then the questionable performance in favorable bowling conditions raises the question of bowling ability!

New Zealand -Bangladesh 1st Test: The hardships should not fail
</center><div class="text-justify">

The pair of 158 runs by Liton and Mominul gave us the lead. There are two days left in the match. This draw is crucial for us, based on the state of our Test cricket.

I'm not talking about winning because we'll need to play a lot of good cricket and New Zealand will have to fold in the second innings. They'll want to host the match on own turf.

In the testing, Liton has a great rhythm. He hit his 11th half-century of the season. The half-centuries, on the other hand, could have been transformed into more centuries if he had played more cautiously.

Today, Harsha Bhogle tweeted about Liton: "It's a pleasure to see the reflection of Liton's promise. Bangladesh has given him many opportunities, and this time Liton should repay them in this way.

Mominul was under pressure after scoring 14 runs in 4 innings with Pakistan. This 88-run inning will give him the confidence he needs. Through this, Mominul has completed 4,000 runs in all three formats.

Both of them, however, stood an excellent chance of scoring a century. The only regret is that they could not able to score a century. For at least a century, I would have been happy.

This is the forecast for Bangladesh's chances of winning the test. The hardships should not fail.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) and our Antipodean Cousins
![corona-4930541_1280.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbYSu2eeNi8MvG1ozXn5FBuNCfr7kz4Tpzcj1UdwVdLgZ/corona-4930541_1280.jpg)

<b>COVID-19</b>

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic is one that would see a lot of preppers bug-out and others think that it is not a bad idea at the moment. In Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa countries share contiguous land masses thus the movement of people is significantly harder to control; however, our antipodean cousins in Australia and New Zealand have the distinct advantage of distance, isolation and modern day economies with very good health facilities. Overall you would expect them to be coping significantly better than elsewhere. The short answer is they are but one is doing better than the other - read on.

The handling in Australia and New Zealand reflects two clearly different philosophies.

<b>Australia</b>

In Australia, the Commonwealth Government, although not specifically enunciated, is clearly trying to balance health matters with economic priorities. The result is a slow death for businesses, an epidemic remains intransigent to measures taken. The healthcare system is also being gradually crippled - with private hospitals making an outright economic decision taking one-third of intensive care unit capacity offline (why didn't the Australian Government secure such essential services?) and a public health system under significant pressure with resources running out, medical staff getting sick, etc.

The Australian Government has also failed to be transparent and clear in its advice to its own people. In Australia it is quite normal that in times of crisis, that the elder statesmen of politics (previous Prime Ministers) to comment and provide support for the incumbent government or otherwise if from another political persuasion. This has been clearly absent from both sides.

Then we have what I would call the spin doctors, be they government officials, "independent" government paid consultants and elected officials who seek to twist the facts. What do they say " he who pays the piper calls the tune". Some more recent statements such as "an increase is a good sign" or something along those lines - that one beggars believe. The PM coming out today stating that the rate of increase has slowed from one week ago when new cases were increasing at 25-30% and now it is 13-15% - thus the Australian Government measures are working. The numbers are correct; however, the analysis is incorrect and deceitful at the least. The fact is that if your cases grew by 100 on a base of 1,000 a week ago (10%) and now they grew at 100 on a base of 3,000 (3+%) you are really not making progress. A better tracking would be new cases per million of population as it indicates the incidence in the community. In Australia this was 5.65 per million a week ago and as of yesterday 17.84 per million (The world average is 8.82 per million as at the time of writing). This number continues to rise each day.

I'll briefly mention the approach taken with respect to COVID-19 testing and what death certificates may reflect as the cause of death. Testing has been expanded in Australia to wider groups but remains limited - thus there may be many sent home with a mild case of COVID-19 that recover over time but do suffer some respiratory damage (a legacy for the future). These are not tested and not counted. Further deaths from COVID-19 are generally from respiratory failure or maybe a heart attack - this is how many are recorded as no test is undertaken for COVID-19 - thus the mortality rate for COVID-19 is kept artificially low. Other countries are doing the same to various degrees while some third world countries have little hope of providing reliable COVID-19 statistics through no fault of their own.

The Australian Government also is failing to be transparent with respect to a variety of statistics - masks, PPEs, transit passengers into the country, etc, etc. This only suggests that the lack of transparency is also related to hiding the facts from the Australian people. So much so many are not taking the Australian Government seriously and think that the present situation is an opportunity to party.

<b>New Zealand</b>

Hop across the ditch to New Zealand where they have a PM (Jacinda Ardern) that apparently many Kiwis do not like but many other countries say they would like for their Prime Minister. I happen to be ardent supporter although I do not get to vote for her.

Sadly, today New Zealand recorded its first COVID-19 death and at least one other Kiwi is in an acute state.

This is a government that, unlike Australia, has a very clear four stage plan. Australia is simply making it up as they go with words like "unprecedented" and "uncharted territory" being bandied around. The New Zealand plan has been communicated so clearly that anyone in an English speaking country would understand what is required of its people. The PM has been very clear leading up to the lockdown with a memorable session on Facebook during the first lockdown evening. Here she cam across clearly as both a leader and a mother in a Kiwi family happy to answer questions. Based on all news reports the lockdown is being followed very seriously by Kiwis - they are not going to "the footy (soccer or football)", or the beach, etc.

I see a Government here that is willing to share information as openly and honestly as possible. Their agenda is the health and safety of all Kiwis - the economy can wait a few weeks.

The Facebook session was also very clear - the numbers will rise and as the lockdown kicks in the numbers should fall back. Lets look at New Zealand's growth rate per million. A week ago it was 10.42 case growth per million - leading up to the lockdown it rose to 17.50 per million and has dropped to 17.29 as of yesterday with indications of 15.0 for today. Something is working here.

The mortality rate (which is calculated on closed cases during an epidemic) sits at 1.8% compared to Australia currently about 8% (dropping from nearly 16%) and a worldwide mortality rate nearly at 18% and still rising.

<b>Summary</b>

Although it may be premature, present indications are that a "developed" country's ability to isolate and lock-down when there is a world-wide pandemic is a far better approach than other more vague and indecisive approaches. My wider analysis is that New Zealand and , although not mentioned, Japan are two countries that would be the best to live in during the COVID-19 pandemic and possibly after it has passed. Noting that the Japanese culture is very organised, modern and very polite - being a democracy that can work with military precision.

Best day hikes in New Zealand
There are so many hikes in New Zealand that it's hard to choose, but here are some of the best day hikes around the country.

1. Ben Lomond
![Ben Lomond.png](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbkmkBgUbiQ16LNyuzGY1VEZVt2HBu2B2dYaHWm39s25h/Ben%20Lomond.png)
Ben Lomond is an epic day hike that begins right in the heart of Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand. Hiking to the summit is a full day activity, taking around six hours. Some parts of the track can be pretty steep but the views over the Wakatipu Basin and the Mt Aspiring National Park are well worth it!

2. Roy's Peak
![hiking-roys-peak.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRpm8y8ysmBuezYXNM5Uvn2KnxHrPzK8BHfK42n63bzCV/hiking-roys-peak.jpg)
This has to be the most Instagrammed day hike in New Zealand, and it's not hard to see why with the incredible views over Lake Wanaka. This hike crosses private farmland and it's worth noting that the track closes over lambing season from mid-October to mid-November. Typically it takes around 5-6 hours to complete this 16km hike.

3. Pororari River Track
![11-pororari-river-paparoa-west-coast.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbX42xyGEyBKvZoGDGpFx4hzzTVnVa1DW7AcPcrvz6foE/11-pororari-river-paparoa-west-coast.jpg)
This track is found within New Zealand's smallest national park, Paparoa National Park, near Punakaiki on the West Coast. This is one of the easiest hikes in the list with gentle undulations over the 7km track. It feels almost prehistoric as you skirt the Pororari River and through some of native bush.

4. Tongariro Crossing
![4-emerald-lakes-tongariro-alpine-crossing.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmfX6RYqKUhrd7uyuLALZ2DkfsQVj4LCp9tUwS9RFyoKkU/4-emerald-lakes-tongariro-alpine-crossing.jpg)
Said to be the best day hike in New Zealand, the Tongariro Crossing is in New Zealand's oldest national park, Tongariro National Park. This isn't one for the faint-hearted, with some challenging ascents but all worth it! The Emerald Lakes and the Blue Lake are not to be missed. For most people, this hike takes a minimum of 7 hours. You can walk this track all year round but it can be snowy/icy during winter so make sure you're prepared with the right gear. 5. Routeburn Track Key Summit
![4-walking-key-summit-trail-fiordland-2.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbUf354WdDVNYMHwP6xP8Z52pF4mq7kEopvuedMvQ8piJ/4-walking-key-summit-trail-fiordland-2.jpg)
One of the best things about the Routeburn Track is that it crosses through two of New Zealand's beautiful national parks. This day hike is in the Fiordland National Par, starting at the Divide. This includes a relatively steep climb but well worth it for the views at the top, and an epic spot for lunch!

Hello, dear friends so guys today I am going to talk about the team New Zealand they have probably lost their game in the final. New Zealand has given their everything from the beginning of the tournament till the end but the result was in loss. More ever we have seen live as their efforts there as well as the skills were too good in this game.

But the result has lost in the vein as they lost the match. I don't think so that New Zealand should be blame in their batting as well as their bowling attack because they have given their hundred percent in the match but the luck did not work there in their favor. Imagine if you are going to play the final game and our team is winning in need of more than 15 runs in last over and luckily you are getting extra four runs in the game without doing anything then how will you feel.

The same thing has been Express in the eyes of Kane Williamson when he has given his first interview in media. He was quite very upset as their whole bowling team as well as the batting team has given lots of efforts as well as they had done lots of practice to win this game. No matter England has also been good throughout the format the rules of ICC has taken New Zealand back in the home country.

There would not be a single chance of super over in this game. If that four runs did not come from that has been made by new Zealand player. But it was not an improper through we can say as to when the bowler was throwing a throws it directly straight to the bat luckily he got four runs in that score. Without the luck, I don't think so England this time but it is a game, after all, there are more chances of the head I think New Zealand should come up with more challenges in next world cup.
