As a result, the Azkals have recovered from their disappointment in the opening game at the hands of Syria. Angel Guirado kicked the Filipinos' first score in the sixth minute after connecting the cross from captain Stephan Schrock. The Azkals doubled in the 12th minute when Patrick Reichelt hit the ball, 2-0. Guam got more aggressive in the second half, giving them a chance to score with Marcus Lopez's spot kick in the 67th minute. But the Azkals did not allow Guam to form after Schrock scored his first goal in the World Cup qualifiers four minutes later. The Filipinos went further when midfielder John Patrick Strauss registered the Azkals' fourth score in the 81st minute. The Philippines will next face China on October 15 in the city of Bacolod.
