# <center> Introduction </center>
Steemit has already successfully introduced the concept of **turning “likes” into currency**, and we all know how amazing the Steemit platform is. 
The APPICS team has been working on this app idea for over a year now, and when Steemit introduced the opportunity to launch **smart media tokens** on their Blockchain, it was the perfect opportunity for APPICS to be born. 
Since the founders have already been early adopters on Steemit, cooperating with *Steemit Inc* and making APPICS a smart media token on the Steem Blockchain seemed just right. 
Despite being a smart media token, APPICS will have its own, independent cryptocurrency: the ***APPICS coin (XAP)***.  
The platform APPICS will serve as a ***mobile social media application*** that returns a fair share of the created value, back to the *source* – namely the social media users, back to the creators and curators of the network.

APPICS will be a ***mobile application*** that makes it easy for users to share pictures and videos, while earning rewards and benefitting from Blockchain technology. 
Just like on Steemit, people can post, comment on and upvote (like) content and get rewarded for it through APPICS tokens (*XAP*). 
Users will have their own  built-in ***wallet*** to store their XAP, which they can use to make payments, send to other users in instant transactions, or exchange for any other currency.

There will also be features that set APPICS apart from Steemit, for example the ability to post **live-streams** or create your own ***shop*** within the application.

APPICS introduces an economy that is based on a network of influential people.


#### Strategy
Each category within the app has a representative team of ***category judges,*** whose votes will have a large **weight** on the rewards due to frozen funds being put into their account wallets.
These category judges will be Social Media ***Influencers***, experienced users who already established a large audience and reputation on other social platforms. 
These Influencers will be able to *judge* content and give *advice* within their specialized category and act as a *moderator*, filtering valuable content, as well as bringing their existing audience to APPICS, allowing them to benefit as well.

It serves as credits that are created via content contribution and curation on the application, which users can easily exchange for any other currency.

Similar to STEEM Power, **APPICS power** represents APPICS tokens which have been integrated into a smart contract.
The amount of APPICS power represents the level of influence that an account has compared to the rest of the network. 

Each APPICS user has an integrated **wallet** and can send APPICS coins to other users and via the feature “*direct transfer*” transactions are credited within a few minutes. 
APPICS coins can also be spent at ***shops*** within the app, giving **merchants** the opportunity to combine business and social media in one convenient application.
