It was around July, 2017, and my friend @irfanullah, told me about this site [Steemit](steemit.com). At that moment I didn't even know much about cryptocurrencies. The only cryptocurrency I had ever heard of was Bitcoin. But I had never even checked the price of Bitcoin and like others I thought it was just a useless currency with no applications in the real world. My friend told me that on Steemit, you can earn money by blogging. I asked him how, and he told me that you get money when someone upvotes your post or comment. And naturally my next question was, from where does that money come? And he replied that Steemit has its own currency. So, I searched about it, and found out that STEEM was actually a cryptocurrency just like Bitcoin. !(https://steemitimages.com/DQmaghgxUh1rRtWhFDH7u5NSM7DkNZjasJfmQyHy1qimF2q/image.png) [image source](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWtndBeLEvzNeNnxumpwFVGPDKrM98ew8CZGrcMzebQzF/Steemit.jpg) After joining Steemit, I started reading other people's posts, and one of the first things I noticed from their posts was how high the price of Bitcoin was. I think it was around $2400 at that time. So, I started reading about Bitcoin. The first fact that struck me about Bitcoin was that it has a limited supply of just 21 million coins. Then according to my calculation, at $2400, the total worth of Bitcoin at that moment was just 50 billion dollars, which according to me was quite less. So, soon afterwards, I started buying Bitcoin a little by little. And not only Bitcoin but also Litecoin and Ethereum. At that time, I think STEEM was also just around $1. But today, its trading at around $7. So, joining Steemit has been pretty good for me, and I'm forever indebted to my friend @irfanullah for introducing me to it.
