<h1>What are other triggers, that can help your post earn more?</h1>
<p><br></p>
<p>After all the effort you put into creating these posts, you want to earn something. In some cases and for many people, <strong>"earning"</strong> doesn't always have to be financial!&nbsp;</p>
<p>You may also want a level of interaction, friendship, new connections etc</p>
<p>You may at least want steemians to come around and create further beauty, in the comments of your posts etc</p>
<p>Some posts were designed from the very onset to <strong>"impart"</strong> and <strong>"earning"</strong> in this case, could be;<strong> "in the knowledge that you have imparted others!"</strong> You may relish that your audience acknowledge this, by means of their heartfelt comments, a resteem and in some cases, <strong>full-blown posts triggered by means of your own post etc</strong></p>
<p>But did you know that on the flip side, all these seemingly-looking side-actions, <strong>can also very easily turn into financial rewards?</strong></p>
<blockquote>Yes, even that tiny upvote from redfishes, minnows, or not-very-powerful bots, that you may frown at for not having impact; all work together and can trigger a huge earning!</blockquote>
<p><br></p>
<p><strong>At the end of this post</strong>, i will help you imagine how all these things work but first, <em><strong>here is a little background:</strong></em></p>
<h1>Little Background</h1>
<p><br></p>
<p>I have been here long enough and i am not talking "duration".&nbsp;</p>
<p>Some people can see and perceive things more quickly than others, not because they are better at <strong>"seeing"</strong> but perhaps because, they are <strong>"looking"</strong> more intently.</p>
<p>Most of the things i learned about steemit were not from the whitepaper. I did ask many questions but again, <strong>"it is about composing and posing just the right question"; </strong>which in itself is a special skill.</p>
<p>Over time, growing up; i developed my path even when it comes to understanding things. Even in very simple conversations, like those that we have in the discord DMs etc, my art of conversation is very unconventional.&nbsp;</p>
<p><br></p>
<p>Yes, i may get to the <strong>destination of our conversation</strong>, in a very short span of time, not only because of my understanding of life and humans but also because of my method of processing information.&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote>I look more for underlying concepts and try to understand that.</blockquote>

<p><strong>I understood steemit really quickly</strong>, from the actual process of <strong>"steeming on"</strong> itself. For instance <strong>"bots"</strong>; it didn't take me time to know that they existed and upon knowing they existed; it didn't take me time to understand how curation <strong>(in all its dimensions)</strong> worked.&nbsp;</p>
<p>While many minnows like me, where busier figuring out why there should be bots in the first place; i was already looking at how bots worked, in relation to curation.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I do like to <strong>sift the good from the "not-so-good"</strong> especially when it comes to humans, but this applies even when i am dealing with life, issues and situation. So i was fast in pin-pointing that even though bots did some votes, there were always <strong>human parameters</strong> involved. I will pause here on the "bot issue".</p>
<blockquote>I painted the above picture, so that you can grasp the later part of this post better!</blockquote>
<p>Too, it didn't take me time to understand <strong>"steemit posts"</strong> and how they worked in relation to earning etc.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In the earlier days of steemit, there was a <strong>"4 post" daily limit</strong>, which i tried to exhaust at the time as i felt obligated to maximize possibilities, but after a period,<strong> "simple logic"</strong> in relation to the curation knowledge i had started to accrue, made me start to reduce my number of daily posts.</p>
<blockquote>Many of the rules from the past, related to bots &amp; post limitations, have changed due to several hardforks, but the principles still remain!</blockquote>
<p>It got to a point in my earlier days on steemit, where even solely based on intuition, i could tell if a post would earn.&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote>Overall, steem was as low as 7 cents at the time, so we valued every cent. Yes, we valued every comment, resteem and even every redfish vote.</blockquote>
<p>Note: There weren't bot initiatives like minnowbots, boosters, upgoat, randowhale etc not even many discord servers!</p>
<h1>Back To Today</h1>
<p><strong>My point is:</strong> whatever the case; whatever the hardfork; however, the number of bots;<strong> the principles are same:</strong></p>
<blockquote>We are in a community of reputable great minds; steemians; <strong>humans!</strong></blockquote>
<blockquote>&nbsp;If we focus on the <strong>"human"</strong>; then every upvote, resteem, comment counts and when you expand your horizon just a bit, perhaps even the bots, spam comments etc count too because <strong>"humans"</strong> were involved!</blockquote>
<h1>Let's Play A Bit</h1>
<blockquote><strong>Note: </strong>Even in my play, there is an element of "serious". Read between the lines. Apply principles as you read my stuff. Understand the underlying concepts. Forget the theory.</blockquote>
<p>It is a known fact that not everyone may vote on posts manually. Some may have an list of who they auto-vote for, especially the busy ones and some may vote for valuable content using a bot or auto-vote service like curie, steemvoter or steemian based on his or her parameters.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Yes, some may code their own voter and add 120 parameters to it, so that <strong>this bot </strong>votes based on the preferences of <strong>the human</strong> etc</p>
<p><strong>Now look at this scenario:</strong>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Your post has earned 0.57 cents and has had 200 upvotes and it frustrates you; and to add to your frustration, a comment from @arcange arrives, congratulating you for having had 50 comments to your post!</p>
<p>You still feel frustrated but you decide to take a nap! However, the next time, you look at your post, you see that it has got a <strong>100 dollar earning </strong>on it and you wonder in bewilderment; <strong>"how could this have happened?"</strong></p>
<p>Let's imagine!&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote><strong>"What if a certain whale decides to use engagement as one of the parameters for his auto-voting and decides, 'let me measure engagement, using @arcange's comment on a post as a trigger'!"</strong>.&nbsp;</blockquote>
<p><strong>You see;</strong> moments ago, you weren't very happy, even though you were amassing 50 comments on your post because your earning said "<strong>0.57 cents".&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p>Now did anybody ever tell me, that a scenario like the above exists? The simple answer is "NO".</p>
<p><em><strong>But does it matter?</strong></em></p>
<blockquote>Hahaha, you have to <strong>present yourself</strong> every time, for you know not where opportunity lies. @surpassinggoogle</blockquote>
<p><strong>In the Philippines for instance</strong>, people ask me, why i am fully dressed, when i am just going to a store in the next street.&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote>Well, where i am from, if i had the means; i dress gucci everytime because, i may need to sweep someone off their feet anytime, anyplace &amp; vice versa!</blockquote>
<p>I will leave you with just one scenario, to help you build on the ability to 'understand underlying concepts', when you read complex things, <strong>like whitepapers, steemit posts etc or even during the art of conversation!</strong></p>

<p><strong>Note:</strong> even with manual votes, there can be many parameters involved e.g <strong>i may have seen your post the first time</strong> and it may have been <strong>top-notch content</strong> but hahaha, <strong>"top-notch"</strong> isn't the only parameter for me because in reality anybody can create<strong> "top notch content", </strong>so<strong> </strong>i may let it slide; only to vote for it at a later time, because i saw it again, <strong>resteemed by maybe someone i know, or someone i like, or someone i look up to, or a redfish or a minnow.</strong></p>
<blockquote>Hahaha, statuses matter not to me, the human does!</blockquote>
<p>I seem to speak for myself, but the <strong>logic &amp; principle sticks</strong>; <em>we are in a reputable community of great minds; steemians;</em> <strong>HUMANS!</strong></p>
<p><strong>So here......</strong></p>
<p>I do value every tiny upvote because, with steemit; <strong>"its an ecosystem"</strong> and every tiny thing can be a trigger! Yes, even though, you don't earn a dollar from the myriads of redfish upvotes, these votes still aid visibility (relevance algorithm). <strong>Did you know?</strong></p>
<blockquote><strong>And you never know, who is following or copying the vote of that redfish!</strong></blockquote>
<p>The truth is <strong>anything</strong> on steemit can be a trigger, so value <strong>everything</strong>!&nbsp;</p>
<p>Yes, sometimes even that <strong>tiny-looking resteem from a minnow</strong>, can be what triggered that a <strong>whale upvote</strong>.&nbsp;</p>
<blockquote>For instance, i vote on some posts, simply by visiting the resteems of a minnow or redfish account</blockquote>
<blockquote><strong>Also remember this;</strong> many votes that happened on the outside (steemit.com) may have happened because some good Samaritan on the inside, has vouched for you; <strong>so it may not be your top-notch content afterall.</strong></blockquote>
<p><strong>The thing is</strong>, you never know what the trigger would be, so why not<strong> present yourself.</strong></p>
<p>Yes, some people may use <strong>"number of words"</strong> contained in a post as an additional parameter for their auto-votes, so why not <strong>"go big"</strong> when you post and<strong> "present yourself".&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p><strong>@curie </strong>may come around or someone who submits undervalued posts to @curie may come around, so why not <strong>"go big" </strong>and <strong>present yourself</strong> to these opportunities by means of your posts.</p>
<blockquote>A whale may decide; "let me visit #philippines today, since i am off from work". When he arrives, will your posts be hotcake and ready?</blockquote>

<p>Plus, <strong>your posts</strong> <strong>say alot about you!</strong> In my case, i am very gifted in that regarded, that i may get to know you perhaps, <strong>even more than you know yourself</strong>, just by reading your posts.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>People ask me how that is and the answer is quite simple:</strong></p>
<blockquote><strong>The state of your heart, the extent of your substance, are in the tiny excerpts of you that you weren't paying rapt attention to.</strong></blockquote>
<p><strong>So if i was your boyfriend for instance</strong>, and i was aiming at reaching your heart; i won't be asking you:<strong> "do you fart loud?" </strong>hahaha, that is a very frontal, obvious question and you will be fully prepared before you answer!</p>

<p>You will notice that i vote on the comment section alot and one of the reasons i do this, is in the whole story just above!</p>
<p>&nbsp;Ofcourse, ultimately, i do this type of comment-voting to promote unity, engagement, community etc but i also do it to teach! Yes, i want to teach even in my small way to value even the tiniest gifts.&nbsp;</p>

I'm new to these parts, so my opinion isn't an educated one, but I would hope it wouldn't turn off a curator to upvote one's own post.

Why post anything that you yourself wouldn't Upvote or even Resteem, depending on the level of quality vs quantity you're going for? If you believe in your value, there's nothing wrong with believing in yourself & tooting your own horn, despite what we've been taught... But make it worth it, if it's curators you're trying to attract.

From what I've been able to ascertain from my attempts to assimilate with this cultures, it's acceptable to Upvote your own content, though there seems to be a varying & subtle advanced & nuanced art to it.

If you're wisdom is called in & you are put to work, especially by the author, it seems to be socially acceptable to Upvote ones own comment, you were volunteered to work after all.

It seems to be tacky though to upvote one's own comment & assume a share especially before the author themselves chime in, although again there seems to be subtle variations based on choosing to do work for others.

The big no no seems to be self-upvoting value-less comments & not even giving a courtesy reach around upvote to the author, as seen in the recent "me too" that was evaluated at $60.

Anyways, I could be totally wrong but it's what I've picked up trying to figure this lovely complicated eco-system out. :P

But most curators are dying for a good read, so why not toss yourself an Upvote if you believe in the value of your words? If believing in myself turns someone off, then they aren't who I wanted to attract anyways, you know?

Nothing wrong with upvoting your post. Among other things, it helps with visibility. As for turning curators, well it depends on the curator. Different curators have different intentions and non is wrong in reality. Some curators can go after curation rewards and some can go for quality, while some go for friends or look up to others and imitate. Bottomline is, you can please every curators, so that is where your own preferences come into play. upvoting your post used to be default, i dont know if that is still the case. Nothing wrong with upvoting your comments either but like the comment below, it depends on you as you can determine the quality of your work same as you would do with others. you may also want your comment to seat on the top of a thread for various reasons, thus, you may upvote your comment. Overall, non of these things can be called wrong. when you upvote your posts, it is usually the very onset, so i dont see that affect curators looking to make more rewards as they like to vote at around the 30 min mark. again it depends on ht curator. Some curators may also have a soft spot for powered up posts as they feel that adds to the steem economy etc

I felt the same as you and tested it out on my first couple posts (learning by watching the effects). I then read a post from someone who apparently felt the opposite was true. Since upvoting your own post used to be default, you'd think it would more widely accepted. Thank you for your help as well.

One of my posts this week has $3.16 in payout,  47 upvotes and 82 comments. Since the average post has only 3 comments, I feel proud of my result. I hope you don't mind if I link it in case you have minnows on this post.

I think in the future I will try not to make such a big post though. But I wanted to make this as comprehensive as I could.

But it certainly is daunting here. I make much more from commenting than I do from posting. So I only post a few times a week and comment at least 50 times a day. Such an interesting ride here at steemit.

A lot of truth in this post. You have to be out there to be appreciated. Success won't come to a person who is not doing anything at all to get noticed.

I create blog posts as well comment regularly. None of my posts are a few lines or just an image. All of them are well-formatted and extensive in content. 

Opportunity may not knock twice but I keep knocking on opportunity - I think that is the best way to put it. So if someone feels that he/she is finding it difficult to succeed here, just keep knocking! New colloquialism, if you could call it that!

Now a few lines about the grey side of Steemit. There needs to be more awareness among those who hold more power by way of votes, to ensure that they don't vote on content that may not befit a high-quality feed so that when outsiders visit Steemit they are not appalled by the contents of the feed. 

I do not say this, just google Steemit reviews and you'll see what I mean.  The quest for Quality needs to start from the top.

If you don't give your valuable vote to low quality content, the creator of that content will better spend more time on creating better content -or learn it from those who do.

That is my blowing. Wow. I see myself as a whale too but i dont know when. I wish to find out but not by being in a hurry. I can now give a cent on my vote in two months . Feels like i have achieved the world. 

Plus i always try my best to keep up good contents. Using my farm work as a selling point for me. 


Its a gradual process tho. Sometimes i get 11$ upvote from curie and it was not like that before. Doing my best and leaving the rest. I know it wont be long before people like you notice me. I’ve always been a big fan of comment engaged is something I enjoy more than making blogs. 

Part of that , that some people over look is curtailing your own comment sections. 

With how busy some people are and others spamming it can get hard to find or even want read someone’s comment sections. Which is where I think the real fun happens on this site!

I hope more have the take away from reading your blog that they should as well put some effort into curtailing their own comment sections when they see a worthy comment. It helps add another layer of enjoyment and even possible engagement into someone’s blog.

I was measuring success here initially with the dollar amount each post makes. This was the orientation at work, and the most logical way to measure for someone who does not know much about the community is the monetary reward. This is powerful in a way that this talks about something that you would have only learned by experience. This will save a lot of newbies pain and frustration of having to go through the ups and downs. I mean the ride will most probably be with the same ups and downs, but less the frustration; thus becomes more enjoyable.

Reward here comes in many forms alright. I had a post that earned $0.07 recently, that same post was translated to Chinese by @ ygern and made over $200. I had a post that got acknowledged by @steemiteducation, while it did not make a lot in terms monetary reward; the acknowledgement is reward in itself.

I still think I have a lot to learn, and because of that I read posts from people like you. I also recently came across @natureofbeing who likes sharing deeper insights on steemit and life in general more than just the how-to. You always talk about the "underlying concepts" and to be honest I don't always get it. I think I am getting it more frequently than not compared to when I was just starting to read your works. It is the same as my journey in steemit. I came here feeling confident (almost arrogant) taking into account what I have achieved in other aspects of life. It is when I started acknowledging that I don't know anything about this, when I started really taking interest in how this works, and then exploring the underlying concepts; this journey became all the more enjoyable. And while I am still not earning lots in $, I am earning way better engagement, and I know the $ will follow.

I am happy to have find this post at this time of the day. It is a great message to read. I really got more insights to the human parameters in bot. You really said it all. There is a common bot around that votes only comments. Sometimes it votes my comments, sometimes it doesnt. At a point i thought the bot maybe programmed by word counts. This is just confirmed by your post. In the recent times too, i have seen the parameter in which a particular whale(name withheld) visits post based on countries or communities. I have really learnt about this and I am happy you are re-ascertaining my thoughts. My question is

Go big again. Not choice. It has never been about us. It is more about legacies, leaving potential for opportunities etc. There are many reasons to post. You can be your own audience and marvel at your creation. There is a search engine upon which you rank too, so there is an audience of humans out there.  And the potential is left out there in existence. Recently, some dug out my first series of post cos he started reading my recent posts and became really interested about me. If he has opportunities he is looking to give out, my first post may have been the trigger for him concluding on knocking on my door. There is a reputation model to steemit, for large opportunities, people will visit, those parts of you upon which you aren't very conscious to try to discern you. Like i said "be whale", if you are whale you would be looking to give out your own attention. There is a ton you can do with a post. You can play out ideas, till you bring them to life. e.g

I'm glad that you're somehow back despite pain! I totally agreed with these all, everything counts, every little thing when accumulated becomes bigger! And who knows when some certain whales upvote posts that are undervalued yet have good quality contents (like curie). Success can sometimes be hard to achieve but it is not impossible, the key is not to stop. I've been following and reading posts of @michaeldavid, @enazwahsdarb and @stackin to get motivation and learn, and my eagerness to success just grow and grow and grow. Hey Terry, as always It bring lots of great things to ponder upon reading each and every one of your posts. 

At first I must agree I went in on Steemit to earn cryptocurrency which I was hooked on, that was just my goal at the start of it all. As my steemit journey unfolded I learned a lot of things about this platform. It is not just about earnings. I realized that it offers more better than earning. First is learning, you can learn many things in every aspect there are tags to categorize this posts. By going on steemit everyday I learn something new everyday.

Next is the community, Steemit is really a great community even though there are many aspects that other people dont like about it. As you said sift the good from the bad that says it all. For me Steemit is perfect having connections, interactions, and knowing many people who have the same and different beliefs with you. Steemit really is an empowering platform.

Lastly Steemit is a way to share your talents to the world, helping others,  especially sharing who you are,  and a platform to express yourself.

Reading this post once again, made me think about steemit in different possible ways and perspectives. As always Thank you for your efforts, support, and inspiration for the steemit community keep up the great work you are doing. I continue to include you and your family in my prayers. This is not just an eye opener to all steemians out there but also a heart opener! I think it's the same in real life outside steemit. We really need to value small things because the smalls things are the ones which have greater value. Also, we should do things from the heart. Passion and compassion are very important. From the very beginning,  my passion and love for blogging led me here. And it comes along that I'm able to help other people out there to pursue their passions while earning at the same time. I never encourage them to post for earnings but to post for they love what they do. I am just so blessed to be part of this community. I am able to discover myself little by little. You know you threw the stone. You can see how most of the ripples propagate. My God, this is about one of the best works i have seen in steemit since i came here. The parameters of post engagement is something i dont do much, but you have actually created an insight on this. 

Also on word count, i just recently made a decision not to go below 1000 words on any post.  That way it gives me better leverage to explain better.

Well, I'm beginning to understand now about what your writing means. first I want to tell stories.
I joined in steemit because I saw a banner ad on google, and it provoked my ambition. because in the ads show that with steemit earn money very easy.
And after I joined, it was not as easy as I imagined. I have to follow process by process to get what I imagine. Not an instant way to earn money. if talking about steemit, it means about a process in the community, like we live socializing in a housing complex.
the thing that I experienced is indeed very related to your writing material. steemit is about the process of socializing.
I finally forgot my ambition that my expessibility that I will get money from steemit and I will use the money from steemit to pay college bills. in a day not necessarily 1 dollar, this is impossible if I want to pay college bills. but never mind, I believe god will give me the best way about my problem.

and lastly, I thank you. your writing has made me realize that I need to process in this steemit community

I don't understand the reverse bidding system of first 30 minutes. And why it was put in place? Umm..., this was the side question. Here comes the primary query:

 Content discovery is rewarded to curators. But does it carry no value if I discover that content in first 10 minutes? So what should be the right time to upvote a content. **Which one is better, if I upvote a potentially trending post at 30th minute when it has already got 100 upvotes of say $100 value in total or when I upvote at 11th minute when there were only 10 upvotes totaling 10 dollars?**

30 minutes was put to control bot votes a bit. If you are going for curation rewards. early and few votes is better. i dont regard timing much cos currently i keen on building community. Some people follow votes too of established curators. Some like the 30 minute mark too or just after it.
