On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers advanced to the second round of the playoffs with 104-91 a win over the Miami Heat. The Process is on another level proving that they are already on a championship contender level. With a young core of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and others, they seemed to be stocked for the future playoffs run. Embiid was asked about his view of his team and how far they can go, and here is his response: “A lot of people say that we have a bright future, but I think our time is now. We have a pretty good chance [to contend for a title]. We have a special team, you know, a lot of great guys. I don’t think we need anybody else.” Embiid believes that this was already a complete team even though the Sixers are expected to be a major landing spot for big time names in the free agency. They have enough cap space to lure top free agents, most notably LeBron James. They also have maybe a top 10 draft pick. Whatever they achieve this season, the fact is that they will become more dominant next season and the coming years.

The Sixers are now waiting for the winner of the Milwaukee-Boston duel. The Celtics are leading 3-2 in their playoff series. JJ Redick provided huge buckets in Game 5, finishing the game with 27 points, shooting 50 percent from three-point distance. He made five three-pointers. Joel Embiid added a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, together with 2 steal and 1 block. Ben Simmons facilitated the floor and finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Meanwhile, Dario Saric had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists but shot 0 for 5 from beyond the arc. Robert Covington made 2 triples and recorded 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists while Marco Belinelli had 11 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

It was a close game in the first half, but the Sixers outscored the Heat by 14 points in the third quarter. Goran Dragic was called for a technical foul after slapping Simmons on the backside of his head. Simmons kept his cool and didn’t start an altercation. JJ Redick made the technical free-throw. After the Sixers’ run, Miami couldn’t get back to the game and the Sixers won it and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
